Publisher's summary

I'd Like You More If You Were More like Me takes on one of life's most important questions: How can I get closer to God and other people?

We were created for deep connections. When people have deep connections, says John Ortberg, they win in life. When they don't have deep connections, they cannot win in life. I'd Like You More If You Were More like Me offers help in overcoming one of the biggest obstacles to making deep connections: the fact that we're so different. Different from God and different from each other.

The good news is that connectedness is not based on similarity, but on shared experiences. When one person invites another to share an experience, they're connected. It can be sharing a beautiful sunset or a meal, having a great conversation over cup of coffee, going for walk, or even teasing somebody. And when we share those same experiences with God, we get closer to him, too. God wants to connect with us - so much that he sent his son to live as a human being. God took on flesh and shared every human experience. So we don't have to wonder what a close relationship with God looks like anymore.

An intimate relationship with God and other people doesn't have to be a cliché, it can be a daily way of life.

My favorite book

Absolutely what I needed. The connecting of dots in this book was truly fantastic to be a part of. I enjoyed every part of this book which is rare for me as I usually just enjoy only portions and struggle through the less than ideal portions.

Terrible Title Fabulous Book!

This book spoke to my soul and I want to go out and take the appendix to this book and read all his sources. He really knows have to have the tough conversations about life and show a realistic biblical basis.

Insights into intimacy regarding all the relationships that count

I have read John Ortberg books before and I was hopeful that this book would be just as good as the others I have read before. Well,I wasn't disappointed. The author did an excellent job of combining humor with personal stories. This book is probably one of the best books I have read in a long time

Relatable, insightful, sincere, funny, and truthful!

Very pleasant narration for the audible version. This book made me laugh, cry, think deeper, be grateful, and re-evaluate precious conversations I may have underestimated in my past. The author wrote of instances & experiences so relatable and close to home that I felt many times he could have been in my presence having a conversation with me and sometimes a heart to heart insightful counseling session! I truly appreciated the authenticity and practicality of the real-life situations, relatability , with a light-hearted twist of humor that caused me to belly laugh at times. And the other times with sentiment that caused me to cry tears. Truly a book I will never forget .
