When Kate Pierce-Keller’s grandmother gives her a strange blue medallion and speaks of time travel, sixteen-year-old Kate assumes the old woman is delusional. But it all becomes horrifyingly real when a murder in the past destroys the foundation of Kate’s present-day life. Suddenly, that medallion is the only thing protecting Kate from blinking out of existence.

Kate learns that the 1893 killing is part of something much more sinister, and her genetic ability to time travel makes Kate the only one who can fix the future. Risking everything, she travels back in time to the Chicago World’s Fair to try to prevent the murder and the chain of events that follows.

Changing the timeline comes with a personal cost—if Kate succeeds, the boy she loves will have no memory of her existence. And regardless of her motives, does Kate have the right to manipulate the fate of the entire world?

One of my favourite series

I love history and I absolutely love when accurate history is included in time travel books.

Teenage Romance sidetracks a good story

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed most of this book except for the teen romance bits. It got in the way and even side tracked the main story, which was pretty good. Take that stuff out or beat it back a bit and it will be a better book.

Kate Rudd is one of the best story tellers I look for her narration and I know the book will be great.

Mediocre story, excellent reader

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I am neutral on this book. I really enjoyed the narration, and I found the protagonist very likable. As with so many time travel books, however, so much time was devoted to explaining how time Travel works in the world of Timebound that I got bored.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was very frustrated several times when the characters behaved illogically, or performed actions that made their circumstances much worse. In fact, I wish several times that the protagonist, Kate, had had a gun. When the protagonist's boyfriend knocks her attacker on the head and then carries Kate away, leaving the moaning assailant alone and in possession of the time travel key I screamed with frustration and rage. Predictably, the would-be rapist escapes, only to attack Kate again later (er... umm... earlier? Argh! Time travel!)

Any additional comments?

Although this is a trilogy, I don't think I will buy the next two books. While there is more story to tell, the story in this book wraps up neatly and I am not compelled.

HOLY. FREAKING. CRAP.

I had NO IDEA what I was getting into when I downloaded this book. Just make it past the opening, and you will find yourself awake at 5am listening to the whole book in one shot like I did. PHENOMINAL plot and characters. I dont have a single critique.

A very entertaining read

Everybody says this is Ryas Walkers debut novel, but the complexity of her plot intermixed with layers of character conflict make me wonder. Its no shock Timebound has received so much acclaim. You get to experience the time travel and technology of science fiction, the star-crossed love of a romance, the Chicago World’s Fair of historical fiction, and the serial killer suspense of thriller.
If you are going to have a love triangle in a book, having one love in the past who knows you better in the future, and one in the present who only knows you in an alternate time line, is the way to do it.
While a gripping historical sequence grabs the reader right away. Among all the time travel suspense, the effects of this on family and close friendships are what I found compelling. It was great to root for the heroine duo of Kate and Katherine. A tried and true strong woman, Katherine mentors the budding potential in her granddaughter Kate.
Reading this you get to ponder alternate time lines, merging memories of jumping into the same place as yourself, jumping back in time to fix a mistake without causing more problems, and the possibility of your true love only existing in the past or an alternate timeline.
I really enjoyed the suspense of someone popping in from another time and wondering if they would be friend or foe. My heart was pounding and I could not put this book down during the last four chapters.
What a fun read, I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Lots of plot yet dry and boring

Too dry. Too many twists in the first chapters. Too much, and very little pleasure
