This book takes the next logical step inward by presenting the art of reading in a workbook format and helps you learn to interpret the cards intuitively. The book falls into two parts. The first part concerns learning about the cards and includes exercises for each card that teaches you to trust your interpretation of the card. The second part helps you develop that ability, a skill that Reed calls “intuition”.

Story
As David Brooks observes, “There is one skill that lies at the heart of any healthy person, family, school, community organization, or society: the ability to see someone else deeply and make them feel seen—to accurately know another person, to let them feel valued, heard, and understood.” And yet we humans don’t do this well. All around us are people who feel invisible, unseen, misunderstood. In How to Know a Person, Brooks sets out to help us do better, posing questions that are essential for all of us: If you want to know a person, what kind of attention should you cast on them?

Publisher's summary
Though tarot is often thought of as a tool for divination and fortune-telling, it also has deep roots in spirituality and psychology. For those who know how to see and listen, the cards hold the potential to help us better navigate the full spectrum of the human experience.
In Tarot for Change, Jessica Dore divulges years of hard-won secrets about how to work with tarot to better understand ourselves and live in alignment with what’s precious. Dore shows readers how to choose a deck, interpret images, and build a relationship with the cards, while also demonstrating how the mythic imagery of tarot supports modern therapeutic concepts like mindfulness, acceptance, and compassion. Her reflections on each of the 78 cards are a vibrant tapestry that weaves together ideas from psychology, behavioral science, spirituality, and old stories, breathing new language into ancient wisdoms about what it means to be human.
This is as much a book for those who are new to tarot as it is for those who have worked with the cards for years. And it's a book for anyone interested in exploring what it means to experience joy, heartbreak, wonder, stagnation, grief, loneliness, love. A book of secrets, symbols, and stories, Tarot for Change is a charm for remembering that our problems are not new, we are never alone, and whether we know it or not, we are always in a process of change.
This audiobook includes a downloadable PDF of the from the tarot deck.
PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying PDF will be available in your Audible Library along with the audio.
Critic reviews
"Tarot for Change is an instant classic, a must-have for every tarot enthusiast, and a manifesto for insightful living. Jessica Dore is a lighthouse whose wisdom permeates every page and a teacher who brings to life her subject with undeniable skill and depth.” (Chani Nicholas, astrologer and author of You Were Born for This)
“Jessica Dore has replicated (in wonderfully literary book form) the most expansive, juicy, intuitive, and transformative tarot session. She’s integrated so much wisdom from all kinds of traditions to make the spiritual feel splendidly accessible and the universal feel warmly personal. For people who think they’re not spiritual enough for tarot, Dore has created a very useful psychological framework from the card’s lessons, with plenty of research and insight to back it up. For those who feel a little too woo-woo for psychology, she’s presented the concepts with such artistry and soul that all will feel welcome. And that’s the gift that Dore has given us in Tarot for Change: the gift of feeling more welcome to the tarot, more welcome on our healing journey, and more welcome in our own lives.” (Mari Andrew, New York Times best-selling author of Am I There Yet? and My Inner Sky)
“Tarot for Change is the very best kind of tarot book: one that contains magical hidden depths, and rewards careful readers with truly astounding wisdom and generosity. Jessica Dore combines ancient spirituality with modern psychology to share insights that feel both timeless and brand new. Tarot for Change will teach you about tarot, but also about yourself, and all the joy, heartache, and mystery of being human.” (Claire Comstock-Gay, author of Madame Clairevoyant’s Guide to the Stars)

You cannot bounce back from hardship. You can only move through it. There is a path through pain to wisdom, through suffering to strength, and through fear to courage if we have the virtue of resilience. In 2012, Eric Greitens unexpectedly heard from a former SEAL comrade, a brother-in-arms he hadn’t seen in a decade. Zach Walker had been one of the toughest of the tough. But ever since he returned home from war to his young family in a small logging town, he’d been struggling. Without a sense of purpose, plagued by PTSD, and masking his pain with heavy drinking, he needed help. Zach and Eric started writing and talking nearly every day, as Eric set down his thoughts on what it takes to build resilience in our lives.

Insightful Read
I have read tarot for years and I was beyond excited to get a more logical and culturally accepted way to view the cards. I did struggle with a lot of the author's interpretations, as she warned many esoteric traditionalist would. Sometimes I would have a knee jerk reaction to an interpretation and my initial reaction would be to dismiss it. Forcing myself to find the connection between how the author came to her interpretation of the card with the traditional meaning of the card, added another layer of depth to my personal arcana interpretations. Additionally, I found this book very helpful in understanding a lot of the why's of our human nature.

Loved the book so much that I purchased a hard copy
Book was everything I was looking for. I am a complete beginner in tarot reading and have gotten some books that were a little to difficult to understand for me, so I was very happy when I found Tarot for Change. I found it first on audible and enjoyed it so much that I purchased a hard copy. If you are new to tarot cards and looking for a book to begin, I highly recommend this book/audible.

Love This Audiobook
I absolutely love how each tarot card is explored through a psycho-social, philosophical, and spiritual lens, it’s a very informative audiobook and one of my favorite depictions of the cards.

Excellent!
I’ve listened to this over and over and get something valuable each time. Jessica has a gifted way of telling her story and individualizing each encounter and experience. I know that I will listen to it many times more.

fantastic tarot book
A great book to develop the ability to interpret tarot cards. I kept a notebook with notes on the cards. my ability to read the cards have improved a ton with this book. Particularly suited to using the cards as a tool for self reflection.

Forever Changed by Tarot of Change
Tarot of Change was beautifully written and so incredibly insightful. The way that Jessica Dore narrated the text added an even better layer of indulgence to this book and truly felt like a dear friend sharing their juiciest secrets from the soul. Thank you for such an amazing gift!
