Publisher's summary

Saint is a bear shifter on the war path. He just wants to sleep the winter away, but his rowdy neighbors in the remote Rocky Mountains valley have other plans. When the cougar shifter brothers refuse to keep the noise down, he reacts on instinct, kidnapping a beautiful female who smells like sweet berries and tempts him like no other - a female who happens to be mated to one of the brothers.

Holly's first taste of freedom isn't going as planned. Escaping her family to join in the winter wedding celebrations at Cougar Creek with her friend Ember sounded fantastic, until a grouchy bear shifter grabs her-a gorgeous male who rouses instincts in her that are startling and powerful, igniting a fierce need to growl and stake a claim on him. A gorgeous bear who might be her fated mate.

Can Holly resist the hungers Saint awakens in her? And when Saint realizes his mistake about her identity, can he convince the stunning Holly to give him a second chance?

Contains mature themes.

Very PG-13

There are a lot of tense moments, just not enough sexual tension. And several times I wanted Holly to speak up quicker. But the heat level is 🔥🔥 out of 5. That’s cool for some people, but I like a bit more heat.

this is a super slow burn

it took forever for the female to come to her senses, if your looking for a strong female lead, this isn't it. Troy Duran does and amazing part. This is the 3 Rd book I've heard Elizabeth Hart narrate and once again she disappoints, reading very neutral with no emotion or energy. I think it would of been easier to hear if there was a more involved female narrator.

Grumpy, Growly Bear!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙💚💜❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎
Character development: 😤😠🙃😘🥰
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The Hero: Saint - While trying to sleep the winter away at his cabin in the Rocky Mountains on Black Ridge, but he was constantly being disturbed by his neighbors down in Cougar Creek. They were a pair of cougar shifter brothers that were making a ruckus. He was the alpha and had a duty to make sure there was no danger to his kin who were staying with him.

The heroine: Holly - She came to Embers lodge in Cougar Creek for some company, but everyone was coupled up. She had wanted to get away from her family who were always getting on her about getting a man. She was a cougar shifter, but had never felt any kind of feelings for any male, whether cougar, human or other. She felt alone amongst all the other shifters there for the wedding. Though she was glad she was given a cabin alone while her friend shared the cabin of her mate, Cobalt.

The Story: Saint didn’t want to get up and go out into the snow, but he had to make sure there was no danger to his kin and to get the neighbors to keep the noise down. So he went out into the dense forest and made his way to the neighbors house while trying to keep his temper down. When he got to Cougar Creek he smelled a sweet feminine scent that wasn’t normal for the cougars. He assumed she was the new mate to the alpha of the cougar shifters.

When the cougar shifters refused to keep the noise down and Saints bear took over in his anger, Saint thought only of ruining their celebration as the cougars had ruined his sleep, so when he comes across Holly taking a walk, thinking she is the new mate of Cobalt, he takes her in hopes of ruining their wedding.

I liked the premise of this book and Holly was feisty. Saint was grumpy and growly, prideful and arrogant, but I liked him quite a bit. The story was a cute captive romance, with a nice side story about the ongoing skirmishes between the cougars and the bears with a bit of a Romeo/Juliet vibe since they were from different sides of the fighting family groups.

This book was told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Troy Duran and Elizabeth Hart. Troy Duran has a deep sexy voice and is my all time favorite narrator, I will listen to just about anything he narrates. He does a grouchy alpha male pretty darn well. Elizabeth Hart isn’t one of my favorites. She has a bit of an annoying voice, but not bad enough for me to stop listening.

Taken

What a sweet book. Lonely is one word that explains how these two feel. So can they help each other out? Even if it’s not exactly by accident that they come together. Can a bear and a cougar really get along. Check it out to see. Enjoy

I mostly enjoyed it

Overall it was good. I liked Saint, i really liked the male narrators voice (Troy Duran). I liked the the world created in the fic.

The hardest part for me, and why I knocked off 2 stars is this: the female narrator, Elizabeth Hart.

Her voice annoyed me to no end, not pleasant to listen to.

Sadly because of this, I did find my mind drifting a bit at times. So I was less present for some of Hollys (character) bits.

I had to resist the urge to skip her parts after a while, just to listen to less of Harts voice, but I didn’t want to miss any of the story by doing that. So I kept going.

It was much easier to listen to Troy Duran narrate. It helped Saint really come to life for me.

So yeah. Overall I enjoyed it. I’m sure Hart is great, and her voice works for some, I’m not trying to be mean - she’s just not the narrator for me.

DNF: Plot moved so slowly I couldn’t pay attention.

I wish this had been better, as it was a waste of Troy Duran’s voice.
