Caroline Myss teaches that the ability to shape reality is a divine gift, but a gift that must be trained, strengthened, and practiced as a living discipline every day. Now this gifted teacher brings her trademark passion, candor, and extraordinary insight to help you unlock Your Power to Create.

If you subscribe to Caroline Myss' philosophy in Sacred Contracts, then this seminar merely puts the Principle of "the Law of Attractions" in perspective. The seminar is NOT negative at all although I can see how it can appear that way to people who are merely looking for a "you can do it" motivation seminar like "the Secret." If you have faith in the idea that each of us is here for a reason--to work towards the development of our soul--then you must believe that all of your experiences are designed to help you attain that goal. I believe that all Caroline is really saying in this seminar is as follows: How you perceive the challenges in your life and how you choose to deal with them will define what is "created" next in your path so be mindful of that--i.e. if you don't learn the lesson you were supposed to learn from an experience, then it will happen again in a different setting until you get it! I am glad that I ignored all of the negative reviews because I found this seminar very enlightening and uplifting. It was the "pep-talk" I needed to keep going and view the challenges in my life in a new way. If you're a Caroline Myss fan, listen to this seminar; it will reconcile everything you've been hearing about the law of attraction with the philosophy behind sacred contracts. Thank you Caroline.
I agree 100% with the other reviewer who advised Audible listeners to ignore the negative reviews of this fantastic audio program. "The Power to Create" is absolutely ESSENTIAL listening for anyone claiming to be on a spiritual path, because, as Myss herself states, in order to know what your power to create IS, you must first know what it is NOT. Thin-skinned fans of New Age junk lit like "The Secret" and other adherents of the spiritual entitlement culture who view God/Source/etc. as cosmic Santa Claus will no doubt dislike much of what Caroline has to say here, but then again, when have these people ever been comfortable with the truth? For all others interested in just how far our power to create really stretches (and where, god forbid, concepts like surrender and humility might fit into all this), please do yourself a favor and listen to this wonderful program.
I like this! What's creating about?
When you only want the outer world to change with new things or persons then try 'Abraham-Hicks' or 'The Secret'. When these teaching don't work or when they do work and you're still feeling there's something missing then try 'Your power to create' from Caroline Myss.
It is not an easy way: it's going inside and changing and redefining the ideas about who you are.
The basics are not about getting stuff or people to make you happy but about dis-covering your relation with your soul and dis-covering who you really are.
'A course in Miracles', a way that also isn't really easy, states 'there is no difference between having and being' and it has a lot more in common with this program. Listening to God and guidance instead of the saboteur in this program, listening to the Holy Spirit instead of the ego in A Course.
Didn't someone once said 'first seek the kingdom within'. Well, here's one way to do it.
Enjoy life, Erwin
Perhaps Ms. Myss was having a bad day in earth school when this speech was recorded. I suppose even the best of teachers (and I consider Myss one of the best "teachers" I've encountered in the fields of spirituality and self-improvement) is entitled to have the occasional bad day. Where she is usually pragmatic and plain-spoken (I love it when she says, "Snap out of it!"), in this work, she comes off as strident, shaming, and needlessly harsh. Where she is usually clear and concise, this work is rambling, repetitive, and lacking in clarity. While her language is usually precise, in this speech her enunciation and even her grammar and word choices were poor at times. I almost wonder if she was feeling ill.
I own several of her audiobooks, and listen to some over and over (especially "Self-Esteem" and "Sacred Contracts"), finding new insights each time. Usually, her work inspires me and leaves me in good humor, but I had to stop listening to "Your Power to Create" halfway through. Listening to it made me feel disappointed, uncomfortable, and even a little embarrassed for Myss.
A poor work from a speaker who is usually outstanding.
I came to this book having loved the inspiration and life-changing wisdom of Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, many of the messages in The Secret, etc. Within minutes of Myss's presentation, I felt assaulted. I let the book play on, convinced that soon her message would soften, and that the abrasive accusations of the listener would prove to be some justified means to an end. Unfortunately, I never saw that justification. Myss spends much of the first half of this book ranting about "you". "You" have no backbone. "You" are only interested in manifesting because you just want "stuff". "You" don't know what you want, and are terrified to make a change in your life. For someone who is billed as an "intuitive", I felt ripped off. She obviously doesn't know me at all! This is my first encounter with Myss, and I'm so turned off, despite her positive reviews in other works, I think I'll seek out more tolerant, patient teachers.
A huge fan of some of Myss' work. Also a fan of Wayne Dyer and Deepak Chopra. This presentation leaves me cold. She spends the first half bawling the listener out in a way worse than I ever heard about Dr. Laura doing.
Why does she bawl you out? Because you believe that you can have what you want out of life. That's it. That's the reason she wants to spend your time making you feel like garbage.
If you want to learn about manifesting, check out the Secret, Abraham Hicks or various Wayne Dyer works. They teach and understand the enlightening principle that joy heals and frees us to live with even greater joy. She wants you to let some larger authority make your decisions for you instead of trusting your own self as the source of authority over your life.
Let Myss stick with energy systems and archetypes. I don't want to hear another word from her about what she clearly has very little real comprehension of. Better yet, after hearing how angry she seems to have become, let her retire and enjoy the enormous profits she has manifested for herself on this life journey.
I still buy Myss' material, and I buy it for the occasional, very worthwhile nuggets. This book had 2 that were good, one especially so. It's just so hard to get beyond her harsh tone and hear the good stuff beyond the attitude of you're stupid/weak/worthless/whiny and attacks on others' spirituality. But when she's got a good nugget of info, it's really, really good. For this reason, I limit myself to no more than one Myss book a year because it's all I can handle of her personality.
I absolutely loved The Secret Contract and The Souldmate Contract... but this one leaves me with mixt feelings... Although she saying many things the way they are..she can be very harsh as well... I understand that she has a lot of experience in that field, but she basically make people feel that what ever they did before is not good enough, and maybe never will..unless you go her way..!!(Let's talk about ego here.. ;) I listened to the all thing but I really felt that I was listening to someone who had a bad day!!Anyway, I learned few from those 2 hours ... so it is a positive experience still !So ..mix feeling here..for that I have her only 3 starts overall :(
Because of the way Caroline Myss is performing her speech... I was happy it was only 2+ hours...
Yes..she did much better before, so I know she can do much better... I loved her before, and still love her even after this..
It may.. but let's hope it would be done differently..
I am a huge fan of her past work on archetypes and sacred contracts, but here she is just angry and bitter. I felt assaulted listening to this. There are better, more compassionate ways to motivate people into action other than grinding them down to a pulp.
This was one of the WORST 2 hours I have ever spent listening to ANYTHING. Stay away from this rambling, strident, thoroughly unpleasant exercise in self-indulgence. I kept waiting for the author to earn her accolades. She doesn't. Don't waste your time or money on this disagreeable rant.
