Training Camp is an inspirational story filled with invaluable lessons and insights on bringing out the best in yourself and your team. The story follows Martin, an un-drafted rookie trying to make it in the NFL. He's spent his entire life proving to the critics that a small guy with a big heart can succeed against all odds. After spraining his ankle in the pre-season, Martin thinks his dream is lost - but then he meets a very special coach who shares 11 life-changing lessons that keep his dream alive, and might even make him the best of the best.
If you want to be your best, Training Camp offers an inspirational story and real-world wisdom on what it takes to reach true excellence and how you and your team (your work team, school team, church team, and family team) can achieve it.

I'm not a religious person at all, and I loved this book. Through the story, you keep hearing references of "Him" and "God" and at first it bothered me. But then IT happened.... In the story you are reminded that faith isn't about religion, it's about your relationship with whatever you believe in. I thoroughly appreciate that about this book.
In other topics, the story is great and does outline plenty of traits of achievers and successful people. It demonstrates how all that is not accomplished by one person, but all those around that person as well.
This is an awesome read, very inspirational. If you are looking for the playbook to lift yourself up, this is it!
Well, I fell for it. I'm not sure if others read another book or if I just wasn't in the mood for this book but I thought it was just bad. I didn't find it inspiring in the least and the advice is about as lame as it gets. I will be asking for my money back on this one.
I thought it was outstanding as well, but thought energy bus was a little better, because more people can relate.
Nothing ground breaking as far as leadership and self development go, but well packaged and inspiring. I liked the incorporation of faith and scripture - I don't think there are enough good leadership books that do that.
It is an easy-listening motivational audio book
Could improve a lot just by splitting the audio chapters to match the regular book.
This is a great book that everyone should read at least once. Jon Gordon had found a simple, passionate and meaningful story with likable characters that can be applied to any life journey or business team. Really this book is as much about personal path, focus and commitment as it is about coaching, mentoring and leading.
For me personally this has come as a great reminder. A story that has rekindled a flame deep within rather than enlightened me to a new way of thinking...but that is the real power of the book. It might be the start of a journey or a revitalization of your existing one. Life changing...yes...empowering...yes...but again you get out what you put in so be prepared to turn the mirror on your own journey as you read the pages.
I recommend this to anyone and everyone one. Not as a source of evangelistic enthusiasm but for that chance to look within and find your true purpose, belief and place within the great purpose for which we are here on this planet.
