For any woman who has ever bought a self-help book and wondered why she bothered (P.S. Now that I know he's just not that into me, where do I go from there? Yeah, thanks for that advice). Jennifer Love Hewitt is a self-proclaimed "love-aholic" and hopeless romantic (her middle name is Love, after all!). She has been lucky and unlucky in love, and lived to tell about it---and she's done it all in the spotlight. Much has been written about her love life---some true, most made up to sell magazines. Now Hewitt shares the real story of what she's learned navigating the dangerous dating waters.
In The Day I Shot Cupid, Hewitt offers her hard-won wisdom and tells us how to embrace love with both feet on the ground. First, we have to shoot Cupid. We have to believe that happily-ever-after is hard work---it's not all flowers and symphonies and floating hearts. Wise and wry and refreshingly honest, Hewitt talks about how to pick the right guy and how to know when to let the wrong ones go free, and she offers some surprising truths about the opposite sex. From twenty things to do after a breakup, to ten things to do before a date, to the perils of text flirting (Note: You are waiting. By the phone. For his response), Hewitt uses stories and dating secrets to illustrate the idiotic, romantic, crazy, depressing, hilarious, awkward, glorious moments we all experience in relationships.
Funny, quirky, and empowering, The Day I Shot Cupid deserves a place on every woman's nightstand, bookshelf, or coffee table, or tucked inside her oversized designer handbag.

“Young women will find a kindred spirit, while older [listeners] will discover what's happening in today's dating world.” (Library Journal)
JLH's book is as spunky as she is! Lots of laughs.. mostly cause we can relate with her experiences and because she tells them in such a humorous manner. So glad she read her own audio book as it somehow made everything much more relevant.
It's alright. There is nothing earth shattering contained in this book. I don't think it is meant to have the greatest revelations. It seems to be a bit of self indulgence for JLH. I guess that is alright if it is what she needed to move on in here life. The audio is a bit rough. It sounded like she recorded it in her living room with a four track recorder. If you are buying it for entertainment and fun then it is fine, if you are buying it because you think it will change your life...then please get help elsewhere.
This was my first download and so far has been my favorite. Jennifer Love Hewitt gives a personal account into her thoughts and feelings about Love and some practical advise. She's a beautiful woman whose voice is really easy to listen to. It never got annoying and there were times I caught myself laughing out loud at some of the things she said. I truly enjoyed this audiobook & recommend it as a "must buy". Hope you like it as much as I did :)
I got this more out of curiosity than anything, but I was pleasantly surprised. I laughed out loud and actually identified with JLH. She is kinda like your BFF just talking to you about what a lot of single women talk about when they get together - men and relationships. She does talk a little fast at times is my only complaint, but it makes it a little more conversational.
Yes, it really is a pick-me-up and can change a bad mood instantaneously.
Jennifer Love Hewitt has such a fresh, cute, innocent sounding voice that every situation she encountered I truly believed shocked her and knocked her on her butt. She doesn't have any stellar advice, although some of the little things she advises are good. It's a funny, quick listen. If you take this for what it is, a sweet story of her navigating through relationships in a breezy, comical way then you won't be disappointed. If you are looking for a true self-help find a man book, then this is not for you.
I love that JLH appears so forthcoming with the insecurities she is plagued by. It gives us regular women a little comfort knowing that such a cute and successful young woman goes through similar "stuff". This makes for fun and quick listening.
I'm a huge fan of JLH but unfortunately the book didn't live up to my expectations. It was a bit superficial for me (for lack of a better term). I wasn't expecting a novel or anything, but some parts of the book just had me going like, "Uh, okay, yeah". What I did love, though, is JLH's sense of humor and the fact that she was the narrator. Her voice is just wonderful to listen to. Buy this if you're a JLH fan. If not, then, don't.
