Good way to get into some techniques

This is not a "how-to" kind of book, but it gives good narrative and examples on what makes a good public speaker. Perhaps a more in depth as far as the characteristics, tone of voice or other aspects would make this a must have, but as it stands. It's good knowledge that you can apply and develop into your own voice.

Ideal as a Crash Course or Review

I love being in front of a crowd. If I get to be in front of people AND talk, all the better. I approached this book hoping to refine my speaking ability. I didn't go searching for a primer guide to speaking. However, I found this book to be appropriate as both and introductory and intermediary course. If you don't think you are an advanced speaker yet, this course is for you.

The thing I appreciated most about this course was the exposure I got to great speeches throughout history. I loved to hear speeches that I had never heard before from people I hardly recognize their names. These speeches really gave me some great ideas of how to improve my speaking ability.
