Publisher's summary

"Believing that something is wrong with us is a deep and tenacious suffering," says Tara Brach at the start of this illuminating book. This suffering emerges in crippling self-judgments and conflicts in our relationships, in addictions and perfectionism, in loneliness and overwork - all the forces that keep our lives constricted and unfulfilled. Radical Acceptance offers a path to freedom, including the day-to-day practical guidance developed over Dr. Brach's 20 years of work with therapy clients and Buddhist students.

Writing with great warmth and clarity, Tara Brach brings her teachings alive through personal stories and case histories, fresh interpretations of Buddhist tales, and guided meditations. Step by step, she leads us to trust our innate goodness, showing how we can develop the balance of clear-sightedness and compassion that is the essence of Radical Acceptance. Radical Acceptance does not mean self-indulgence or passivity. Instead it empowers genuine change: healing fear and shame and helping to build loving, authentic relationships. When we stop being at war with ourselves, we are free to live fully every precious moment of our lives.

Give it a couple hours.

I almost returned it an hour in, but by the third hour it was changing my life, job and marriage for the better.

I am so grateful I finally listened to it!!

The book came highly recommended by my therapist. I struggled with so many of the same narratives that Tara wrote and experinced. It gave me a new understanding of how I can go about taking life on and keeping focused on what is really going on. I learned skills that I can apply when I am doing that thing...or get that overwhelming sensation of it's happening again. I have struggled with some demons and finally was able to give it a name. Mara. I can now start to invite everything that once chained me and caused me to struggle to tea and be with it and converse. It may not make sense right now. But give it a listen. Open your mind and listen. I plan to relisten to it!

The narrator was very clear and gave a lot of life to the book (story line).

Do not let your fear of Buddha steer you away

I recommend this audio book to anyone struggling to see themselves as God sees them.

I’m thinking of buying a hard copy because the affirmations are so powerful that I would like have them at arms length to read and/or share with a friend.

Great insight

I would have enjoyed it more if Tara narrated her book. The narrator was ok. I have read the book and enjoyed listening to it. Amazing how we forget things we may have read.

Couldn't belive how much I enjoyed this book!

I often find books like this too heavy handed, but I so loved this book! Just the right combination of psychology and Zen. The narration is great. I was going through a particularly stressful work situation, and several colleagues commended me for how calm I was in such difficult circumstances. It made me want to recommend this audio book to them as my secret stress-management technique! I'm a new Tara Brach fan!
