Editorial reviews
In Men in Bed, sex therapist and PhD in psychology Barbara Keesling contrasts a happy sexual relationship with owning a car. While she can take her car to mechanic, women are "pretty much on their own" when it comes to problems in bed.
Men in Bed essentially tackles male sexuality for women the same way an owner’s manual treats a new car. Keesling uses plain, giggle-free language and anecdotal examples to address hard-to-discuss topics like male anatomy, sexual dysfunction, and compulsive behavior.
Narrator Judith West strikes a warm but firm delivery that makes the material feel both approachable and authoritative.
Publisher's summary
Today’s woman will have on average far more partners and sexual experiences than her mother’s generation. However, she is just as likely to become confused, insecure, and surprised by what takes place in her bedroom. She’ll quickly discover that the sex she’s having doesn’t resemble what happens on the movie screen or in books. He may have trouble “getting it up.” She may even start a sexual relationship with a man who has difficulty “getting it down.” She will almost inevitably find herself in a passionate embrace with a man who is “too quick.”
Noted sex educator Barbara Keesling presents a much needed toolkit for women determined to forge a more satisfying sex life. She explains the physical and psychological causes of common (and not so common) male sexual issues and what a woman can do to help. Packed with anecdotes, sex positions, hands-on techniques, and advice on how to have an effective conversation with your partner, Men in Bed will be an essential troubleshooting guide for all women.

The study of sexual physiology has been a paying career or a diverting sideline for scientists as far-ranging as Leonardo da Vinci and James Watson. The research has taken place behind the closed doors of laboratories, brothels, MRI centers, pig farms, sex-toy R&D labs, and Alfred Kinsey's attic.
Mary Roach, "The funniest science writer in the country", devoted the past two years to stepping behind those doors. In Bonk, Roach shows us how and why sexual arousal and orgasm can be so hard to achieve and what science is doing to slowly make the bedroom a more satisfying place.
