Adult children of sex addicts (ACSAs) struggle with their sexuality and longings for love. ACSAs have not had their stories told in any significant way in the recovery literature. Intergenerational trauma is transmitted through the legacy of carried sexual shame—the burden of which is not theirs. A Light in the Dark offers hope for unburdening ACSAs by sharing the experiences of others, as well as examining the characteristics, roles and recovery that point toward the freedom and joy they rightfully deserve.

Story
When a parent singles out a child for special privileges and attention, that child is often unaware that the relationship is unhealthy - even incestuous. As adults, these children struggle to feel validated, because while they have not been directly abused, they feel a sense of violation and crossed boundaries - usually done in the name of 'love' and 'caring'. The parent's love feels more confining than freeing, more demanding than giving, more intrusive than nurturing. Yet these children suffer from what psychologist Kenneth Adams calls The Silent Seduction.

Publisher's summary
Enjoyable, exciting sex is possible after sex addiction
In the journey to sexual sobriety, many sex addicts find themselves wondering, "How am I going to have a normal relationship?" or "Will it be possible to repair my marriage now that I've confessed my destructive behavior?" and "Will I ever have great sex again?"
As a sex, marriage, and family therapist, Alexandra Katehakis introduces a successful program for sufferers and their loved ones that will help them hone their erotic intelligence by making sense of the past, creating healthy habits in the present, and looking toward a more intimate relationship that nurtures honesty and closeness. With Katehakis's help, sex addicts can get in touch with their healthy sexual side and embrace true intimacy and acceptance in themselves and in their mates.
This audiobook features true stories of people coming to terms with their sexuality on the other side of sex addiction, as well as couples finding a new path to sexual trust and fulfillment. It helps to build the four cornerstones of intimacy that are essential for healthy relationships.

Care for Self Recovery
A great read for anyone looking to heal and move forward towards recovery, self discovery, and bliss.
This book has awoken me to the many issues that undermined my self-intimacy, and thus sabotaged any opportunity I had of being fully engaged and immersed in my past lovers and love.
The work is never done, but this is a keystone to emotional fortitude and sexual being.
