The power of mantras comes not from the meaning of the symbols, but from their direct vibrational effect on our body's physiological and energetic systems. Ashley-Farrand also teaches that Sanskrit is an energy-based language and mantras are spiritual formulas for working with this energy. They are desgined to eliminate obstacles as we progress spiritually, and help us to make energetic progress toward good.

This is great for those of us who see the written Sanskrit and wonder how to pronounce the mantras. The author also has a great deal of knowledge about the purpose of each mantra he teaches, and includes lessons in history and mythology, as well as lots of anecdotes about real people using the mantras and their sometimes unexpected results. I listened to this on a solo road trip to a meditation center and it was just the thing to give me food for thought while I was there.
The definitive Western answer to mantras. Having worked with mantras blindly in the past, this book illuminated the science, history and philosophy behind mantras. In this you will find anecdotes in which the mantras have found practical use in life, as well, as a thorough telling of the Hindu cosmology through the lens of mantra. The narration is passionate as it is the author's life's work. Simply put this is a gift of love.
I can't even say how much I love this Mantra Book. I highly recommend this to all spiritual seekers.
Yes, I am a Hindu. Daily mantra practice is been thought as part of my up bringing. Stories behind the incarnations are been told over and over. But if I had say any of to the western word I can't because it is so complicated. Thomas did an amazing, excitant, outstanding work with not only chanting mantras but explaining them. Lots of divine love to you Thomas!!
Request:- Please continue your work with mantras from Vedas and Upanishad.
This is an excellent introduction to mantras and also provides a solid, logical frame work for understanding how and why they work. Lots of mantras are provided with a good explanation of how each might affect the practitioner. One thing to keep in mind - mantras are excellent tools but the effects can be powerful and for some disorienting or overwhelming so it is best to practice mantras under the guidance of a well established teacher.
This is a great introduction to the diversity and utility of Sanskrit mantra. I have listened to this program multiple times and I enjoy it every time.
