The techniques he uses for relaxing your body will be familiar to those who've done guided meditations. They work very well, and get me just to the brink of sleep. Then inexplicably, his voice JOLTS me awake again. There are also parts of the tape that just make me feel uneasy, rather than help me sleep. Can't say it works, but it doesn't entirely not work either. Upon listening to the audio wide awake, I've concluded I think it's because he guides the listener to an alpha state, then says something like "when I count to three your mind will be CLEAR" and on 3 your mind indeed, does clear. But unfortunately sleep doesn't work that way. If you have severe insomnia, this tape is worth a try, but keep in mind I notice I'm not the only one here to say that this actually kept me AWAKE. :P
A long time reader and listener - I just can't get enough of Audible! (Especially mysteries and Buddhist texts and history and ...etc!
But that's what it's supposed to do!
This audio is good quality, the narrator/author's voice is soothing (it is British, so if you don't like that accent, beware). This audio "book" is sort of divided into two parts, and the author says at the beginning that you could turn off the audio at the end of CD1 and then listen to CD2 the following night. Of course, I am not listening to CD's, but on my iPod, and I choose to listen to the entire sleep hypnosis, even though I don't think I've ever stayed awake til the end!
So, yes, I'd say this definitely relaxes me and helps me get to sleep. I like the voice, I like the rhythm, and I wake up feeling more calm but energized at the same time.
I've used Ambien in the past to get me to stay asleep. I was skeptical at first, but from night one of listening to Harrold's hypnotic voice, I really did fall asleep faster and I stayed asleep through the night. In fact, I've gotten addicted to it. I look forward to the soothing voice, the background music... There's something to it. I highly recommend it.
I have fibromyalgia, a condition which makes sleep, particularly deep sleep, elusive. I've been amazed at how deeply I've slept with this program, to the point where my alarm clock in the morning startles me. I can not reccomend it enough.

I have never been so happy to be wrong! I'm not sure if hypnotizing is the right word but it does help to relax me and I have yet to stay awake for the entire recording. I wake up before the alarm goes off now feeling rested. I couldn't be happier with this purchase.

It does the trick. No more ambien or valium necessary. I don't know how it ends because I am out about 10 minutes into the program. He could be subliminally selling me lawnmowers for all I know after that. But whatever, I am sleeping like a baby.
It also helps to train mindfulness and the ability to deeply focus. Highly recommend
**Beware that there are some grammatical errors, not horrible, but they are enough to shake me awake. However, not for long.
I found Glenn's account a little difficult to get used to at first, but after a time it was fine. His approach is straighforward, soothing, and effective, and contains none of the distracting or irritating elments that one sometimes finds in other audio tracks of this type. I recommend this audio book.
"Learning to sleep without medication."
I bought this to help me through the process of discarding medication. As well as very relaxing, the background music is not distracting at all. I like the fact that you have a choice to either turn off after the first chapter or just carry on listening. I have found this very helpful, still on my journey to the main aim, but getting there. Very pleasing to listen too.
I would certainly recommend this to anyone troubled by the sleep pattern.
"Does exactly what it says on the tin."
i have had this audio book for about 5-6 months and I listen to it almost every night and most importantly I still haven't heard the end of the either of the chapters.
If you have problems with falling asleep then this is highly recommended!
I have always really struggled to sleep and have tried lots of different methods to fix the problem. This audio book has really helped me get into a better sleep pattern and I do find I sleep better generally when using it. I wake up in a positive state of mind and definitely recommend it.
I find this really useful for helping me settle at night and empty my head of the days worries. Highly recommend.
"One of the better ones"
I've tried so many of these self help sleeps , this one is the best I've listened to . It does work but you do need to do as he tells you . His voice transports you into a world of relaxation and yes sleep . 9 times out f ten I start to listen , I get to the bit where he counts 3 and it goes on in the background the number 3 and I'm asleep ! However I've given four stars because when the end side 2 is over , I am fast awake again so the sleep I do get from this is quality sleep I might not have had before . He does have a very hypnotising voice . I think the is well worth the money .
Even if I can't actually play the tracks, I can now recite them in my mind and I still drift off quickly. it really works.
This was an experiment for me...having been able to control my dreams as a child the ability was lost to me as an adult. It took about a month of listening and doing the exercises every night for me to achieve lucidity and when it happened it was amazing. The talk into sleep is very effective and will assist people who are finding their minds are too busy last thing at night to nod off.
Highly recommend this to anyone who wants to acheive lucidity during sleep or just for people who are finding it difficult to actually fall asleep.
After 6 months of totally disrupted sleep I was prepared to try anything and happened upon this. It totally worked and I felt like a new person the next day! I have no idea whats on there as I always fall asleep about 15 mins in!

I listen to this audio every day when I'm in bed at night, and I follow a sleep like a little baby. this meditation is perfect it's amazing I would recomend it to anyone.
Just clear you mind with any negative though, the best way to do that keep follow the autor's voice, his voice is gentle and smooth follow it, if a negative tought comes in your mind, deeply relax and deeply inhale and exhale the air, keep doing it.
You'll see that if you keep listen to this audio every day, all your sleeping problems will disapear forever.

"The voice is awful"
I bought this with high hopes as I often have difficulty sleeping. But I do want to warn people that Glen's voice is really grating. It's kind of dull, slow and sludgy - I thought at first it must be some kind of joke. I just can't listen to it. Sorry about this - because the content is good.
