Yes evry time to listen to his stuff i learn something
It was all good stuff
I'm a huge fan of John Wooden. I was looking for a good book with his philosophy. This book certainly is good for that. However, two things kept me from giving this a higher review.
1. This book is more religious that I thought it would be. I probably should have read the description better.
2. This is one of the few books that is better in print, like a textbook would be, because I would have liked to refer to a printed chart of his pyramid and make notes.
as a non religious person, I was very annoyed with floods of quotes from bible.
but, if you are a christian, this book can help you alot.
for me, I got too distracted to continue.
I'd like a refund.
I would recommand it only to christians
I would read everything by Coach Wooden
He kept it simple and applied scripture to his story
Very Much so!! No idea on actors
Great words to live by - easy to follow and incorporate into your life to help make you a better person
so many hard to chose one
Industriousness and enthusiasm
Great motivational book from a man who was well respected by all.
Yes, there were so many inspirational stories. He created an environment that wouldn't have allowed Joe Paterno's problems in the door. He kept a bible on his desk , but never preached to any of his players.
When he talked about the time four of his players were out with the measles, and the opposing coach ran up the score. He said he did the same thing to that team when his team was at full strength. He later apologized for not choosing the higher ground.
The Higher Calling
Coach Wooden was a man who was truly ahead of his time in so many ways!
He not only was a "great maker of men and young people", he was a visionary and someone who "walked the walk and talk the talk".
They don't come along very often like Coach Wooden.... we can all learn some valuable lessons on life from Coach!
I love the principles of John Wooden
His success principles are fantastic
Story is well told.
Easy to listen to
I wasn't expecting to be ambushed with Christian propaganda when I purchased this book. I can handle a little but I was completely thrown off with statements like Woodens priciples have stood the test of time like the bible. Woodens may have stood the test of time but the bible has been proven many times to contain untruths and immoral statements about things like slavery and revenge. Comparing the 2 is off putting.
Didn't realize this book was half wooden, half Christian. Essentially, bought one book, got half of one. Had to fast forward through half the book to get past the bible crap and back to wooden.
Deceptive cover !
I did not realize I was buying a religious book. Although I really wanted to listen to John Woodens philosophies, I did not realize I was going to have sit through being preached to. It is not just a little mentioning of god, this book shoves it down your throat. I can not do it,I have tossed out the book. The audio preview should include one of the religious sections and it should be indicated in the description as being a highly religious based book.
The narrator is fine
