Building on the astonishing success of The Power of Now, Eckhart Tolle presents listeners with an honest look at the current state of humanity: He implores us to see and accept that this state, which is based on an erroneous identification with the egoic mind, is one of dangerous insanity.
Tolle tells us there is good news, however. There is an alternative to this potentially dire situation. Humanity now, perhaps more than in any previous time, has an opportunity to create a new, saner, more loving world. This will involve a radical inner leap from the current egoic consciousness to an entirely new one.
In illuminating the nature of this shift in consciousness, Tolle describes in detail how our current ego-based state of consciousness operates. Then gently, and in very practical terms, he leads us into this new consciousness. We will come to experience who we truly are, which is something infinitely greater than anything we currently think we are, and learn to live and breathe freely.

I am sure that this book is very good, but I could not hear the content over the narration of Tolle's voice as his narration sidetracked me from the meaning of his words. I was focusing on how he said the words rather than the content of the words. I guess I need to actually read the book.
Even as a "Born Again" christian, I was skeptical at both the christian and non-christian world. After reading and listening to this book, I think I know the meaning of being "Born Again". Now I'm more closer to God and Christ's teaching. Born once again!
I realize that an author might prefer to read his own book, but listening to this author was not pleasant. This is a book to be read. A good narrator would have made this book more enjoyable, but as it is, I couldn't wait until I finished it.
Listening on the way to work each day, I didn't care about the backed up traffic on the turnpike- in fact it was hard to get out of the car once I arrived.
I figured I'd better update my earlier review of this audio book. While I still believe that the audio book should have been read by someone else in order to make it easier to focus on the content, I am getting over that part. 6 hours into the book I am glad that I didn't give up earlier on. Many ideas are so simple, yet so profound and I believe that anyone who is open to look at the world from a different perspective can gain something from reading this.
I simply don't have the words to describe how much sense this book makes and the clear perspective it puts on so many things. Definitely a worthwhile read or listen.
this book is spiritual, very spiritual to a point that i don't think is described in the notes. i listened to the first four hours hoping to grasp to story/message but i could not continue. the reader is just so BORING. listen to the audio sample before you purchase. give this a pass if your looking for something entertaining.
Brilliant. Some people don't need this, but I certainly did! Through the simple act of tuning into what the people around me were saying & learning not to listen to the voice in my head so I can focus on the world around me, I've been able to change my life (literally).
You don't need to be "spiritual" (I'm not and never have been) to find that the lessons in this book work.
Pay Attention to the world & people around you - that's how you learn.
Stop thinking the voice in your head knows anything - really! How much did I know after not paying much attention for the last 20 years? Not a thing, although I thought I had all the answers!
Now I'm listening, learning, and giving my brain real, current information to work with instead of the stories of what I "knew".
My thinking is clearer, more focused, and I'm having much more fun every day!
This book was a life-changing experience for me. I still have all the same beliefs I had before, but now I'm open to understanding life with a new perspective. Wonderful!
"A must read"
Excellent book, listened to it twice and planning to listen to it again. It is the type of book you can use as a reference and return to it whenever necessary.
"OMG so full of wisdom. U can relate to everything Erkhart says. This is a long intense book which has to be understood in stages"
OMG so full of wisdom. U can relate to everything Erkhart says. This is quite a long intense book which has to be understood in small steps and needs to be reread over & over to benefit the enormous amount of information. Almost like the bible! I've so much to learn. 😀
loved it! Recommend this highly. you have to be in the right place and reading his previous book helped.
"Wonderful in so many ways"
Acceptance, non - attachment, present moment
Like the Earth it spans the spiritual side from start to finish
If you're going to listen to an Eckhart Tolle audiobook, start with this.
"Clear and informative"
I feel this book encapsulates Eckhart's teachings. It also goes in to depth about the pain body and its workings that I found very helpful.
"Answers exist, wow"
It is a book with perfect answers to many important questions about human life. At times painful to acknowledge the facts, but a relief to understand.
"Intersesting and worthwhile "
I enjoyed this book and will listen to it a few times more. There is quite a lot to take on but the balance is ok. I look at these kind of books as having some useful information and here we are treated pretty heavily with the Ego or Eagle as he says it. That is the only piece of pronunciation that bothered me and its worth it having the writer read.
After a few more listens I noticed that he states that the book is not a an "interesting" one to be pick up and read whenever the reader fancies but I shall let my title remain as I did find much of in interesting. I found much of the information in the book relatable to so this helps matters a great deal. I see that he has a lot of books out which I find rather odd.
If for any reason one day you suddenly saw everything quite differently or felt strangely more aware than usual to your surroundings this book may be worth looking into. Didn't like the pain body topic because it made me feel uncomfortable but there is maybe a reason behind that.
"brilliant life changing"
brilliant life changing book, I love Eckharts work, I love the introduction and my favourite chapter is the final chapter.
This book is a treasure all personal spiritual and non spiritual libraries should have.
Tolle's reading is monotone but far from boring - in his voice you get his message without getting distracted by it.
I have never had so much spiritual wisdom conveyed to me in such a softly spoken voice ever before. I feel truly the better for the experience. Thank You.
