Publisher's summary

Third in the award-winning paranormal series that’s “hilarious and heartfelt, sexy and surprising.” (J.R. Ward)

Paranormal private eye. Grim reaper extraordinaire. Whatever. Charley Davidson is back in Darynda Jones' Third Grave Dead Ahead! And she’s drinking copious amounts of caffeine to stay awake because, every time she closes her eyes, she sees him: Reyes Farrow, the parthuman, part-supermodel son of Satan. Yes, she did imprison him for all eternity, but come on. How is she supposed to solve a missing persons case, deal with an ego-driven doctor, calm her curmudgeonly dad, and take on a motorcycle gang hellbent on murder when the devil’s son just won’t give up?

Meh

I am a big Lorelei King fan, so I think that part of why I keep listening to this series is because of her. Some of the writing is good. I like the interaction with Swopes and with the Yost/Dean family. The story is one that I am intrigued by, I like the whole Grim Reaper who hasn't fully tapped into her gift storyline. Halfway through this book I was swearing that I wouldn't get the next book but the end saved it for me. Charlie is too schizo for me to be a fan. She goes from being a woman who can't make a good decision when her love life is involved to a woman who interacts with her assistant/friend like a 13 year old girl, (I hate listening to a grown woman act and speak like a teenager), to an actual grown up. I'm on the fence about the series.

Love this series...

I would definitely recommend this book and, so far, this series. If you're looking for pure entertainment, these books fill the bill. I listen to my books as I walk every morning and I wonder what people think as I laugh out loud at Charlie and her zany cohorts, alive and departed. I must say that Lorelei King gives a superb performance. I'm never in any doubt as to which character she is portraying...great range vocally and emotionally. I've always been an avid reader, but Its a very different experience listening to a narrator's interpretation of books. You won't be disappointed with Lorelei King or Darynda Jones.

Whew, this is HOT!

Another scorching hot book in this series. The heroine Charley Davidson is so enjoyable with her quick wit and touching care for people, alive and not quite alive. She is the (not so)
grim reaper. A portal to the afterlife for those who for one reason or another have not crossed over. She is also a PI, helping her uncle who is a cop solve murder cases with those who were murdered helping her! What an inventive cast of characters. The love of her zany life, Reyes, is also "otherwordly and definitely hot" in more ways than one, What a great pair. I can't forget to give kudos to the narrater. She is perfect for this series.
Definite top of the novel list for those who love action, humor, suspense, plenty of imagination, and a great talented author. Could be read alone, but I would recommend starting at the beginning of the series so you can watch the characters evolve and get the full picture.

Danger & Will Robinson

Where does Third Grave Dead Ahead rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This whole series is definitely one of my favorites and this book is the best so far. Just to put that in perspective, I read/listen to over 200 books per year with at least half of those are audio.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Third Grave Dead Ahead?

It was definitely the shock, but I can't say more without giving it away.

What about Lorelei King’s performance did you like?

She truly brings the characters to life, but she's never let me down as a narrator.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There's so much humor in all the books of the series and this one added a serious note to the series. I cried after the big twist of this story. I can't wait to see the direction the story takes in the next book.

Any additional comments?

Darynda Jones is a fantastic author and this series is one of the best I've read. If you like humor along with your woo-woo stuff then you can't go wrong with any of these books. I definitely recommend this series to anyone and everyone.

Woooooooohoooooo

I love these books. I cannot stop listening to these books, they are so funny, so interesting, so well written....I can never stop listening. I am up until the "wee" hours of the night/morning listening to these books. They have consumed me. I am in school and probably almost failed a class because of this series (well....not really, but it could have been a possibility). I am listening to the fourth book in the series, and then I have to wait until later on this year until the fifth comes out. I am going to go through withdrawls :). Great author and great Narrator!!!!!

Best Way to Spend Commute Ever!

I absolutely loved this book. It was hilarious, fun and serious all at the same time. I love Charley. She's my favorite female investigator hands down. Jones upped the ante with this installment by packing it with tons of emotion and scared me to death at the end. I have been recommending this series to everybody I come across and now I'm telling you guys, read these books. They're so much fun. As usual, Lorelei King is a perfect narrator.

Reap away Charlie.

I loved all three books. I picked up the second one at the library. They are humorous, action packed, mysterious and full of spunk. There is also a little bit of a dark side towards the end. I am mad at both Dad and Reyes. I am having some doubt about Reyes as the love interest; I both love and hate him at the same time. Who knows how it will turn out in the end. I can’t wait for the next one to see how new and old characters develop friendships with Charlie. Defiantly will read all the books Darynda Jones writes.

I love Charlie!! A the spunky and funny personality makes for great reads.

Have you listened to any of Lorelei King’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, I listen to alot of her reads. She is a wonderful story teller and I feel brought into the story. She never disappoints with all her voices.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
