Publisher's summary

Third in the award-winning paranormal series that’s “hilarious and heartfelt, sexy and surprising.” (J.R. Ward)

Paranormal private eye. Grim reaper extraordinaire. Whatever. Charley Davidson is back in Darynda Jones' Third Grave Dead Ahead! And she’s drinking copious amounts of caffeine to stay awake because, every time she closes her eyes, she sees him: Reyes Farrow, the parthuman, part-supermodel son of Satan. Yes, she did imprison him for all eternity, but come on. How is she supposed to solve a missing persons case, deal with an ego-driven doctor, calm her curmudgeonly dad, and take on a motorcycle gang hellbent on murder when the devil’s son just won’t give up?

Too Much Rayas

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

No: Too much romance

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Too warm and literally fuzzy

Have you listened to any of Lorelei King’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Excellent

Any additional comments?

The reason the first story was so compelling was because of the communication between Charlie and the spirits of the dead. There was humor and suspense as they tried to solve their own murders in the first book. In the third of the series, there was little of that. I hoped, thoroughout the the story, to hear it, but there was little of that type of communication, save that of a silent spirit and one in the basement of an insane asylum. I was so disappointed; there was just Rayas. So Dorynda, I would say LESS ROMANCE AND MORE COMMUNING WITH THE SPIRITS in your next book!

Interesting series!

I really like this unique series! It was a take we haven't really heard before. It was a fun read! I really like the characters and enjoy watching this all unfold. I can't wait to read book 4. Start at book 1, but all are good reads!

CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE!

I love this new author (for me that is)! The only bad thing I can say is I have to wait a year to listen to the next book! Charlie is funny and sarcastic, she just makes you laugh out loud. Reminds me a lot of Janet Evanovich books. If you like those and the Charlaine Harris books with Sookie Stackhouse, you'll love this. Give it a try!!

Exceptional! I absolutely love the humor!

Darynda Jones has the best sense of humor. I fell in love with this series immediately. You laugh continuously even in bad situations. I even cried during a few parts in this book because you develop a kinship with the characters. I don't usually read books more than once. This series is one I'm reading again, because I needed a pick me up. I also read her next series because her spence of humor. Lorelei king does an outstanding job of narration. I will also follow books she narrates.

Great addition to the series :D

4.5-5 stars

This was a great addition to the series. I'm really loving Charley and her stories. At this point I have very mixed feelings about Reyes. The relationship between Charley and Reyes is complex and doesn't always seem in her best interest and regardless of the pull between them, Charley discovers she has good reason to be cautious.

In this addition to the series, Charley is investigating a missing woman who she believes might have been killed by her "too perfect" husband. Also, Reyes escapes from prison, determined to find the man he was put in prison for killing after recently finding out he was still alive. Charley gets pulled into that investigation as well, which ends up bringing more danger than expected. Charley solves her missing woman case and Reyes is proved innocent but things end on a bit of a sour note as Charley has to deal with betrayal from the two men in her life that mean the most to her. It's not a happy situation and I'm looking forward to seeing how Charles comes through things as the series progresses.

I enjoyed this story very much and I love the characters. Charley is such a great character and I love seeing how she gets through her adventures. She does have more then her fair share of issues in her life and that's sometimes hard to see but she also has a resilience and good heart that you don't see a lot. I like her fun and snarky attitude which always gives the story a boost. Overall, this is a great series and I'd recommend this book (although in the series would be best...these aren't really standalones). 2 thumbs up. :D
