When Shamur Uskevren, the matriarch of one of Sembia's oldest and most powerful merchant families, is tricked by an angry wizard into an assassination attempt on her own husband, her family is thrown into turmoil. Once the truth is discovered, she and her husband must struggle to save their family and stop the sorcerer. Byers writes a good story, but the narrator needs to study unfamiliar words. Her characterizations were good, but mispronounced some names and some words. Especially "poleaxe". It's an issue I've heard with other titles in this genre, especially Forgotten Realms books.
You can tell that the narrator is not a fan of the forgotten realms novels. She narrates the book really choppy and mispronounces many words that are familiar to most forgotten realms enthusiast.
