Publisher's summary

After a century of imprisonment, demons have broken free of the wardstones surrounding the Worldwound. As fiends flood south into civilized lands, Count Varian Jeggare and his hellspawn bodyguard, Radovan, must search through the ruins of a fallen nation for the blasphemous text that opened the gate to the Abyss in the first place - and which might hold the key to closing it. In order to succeed, however, the heroes will need to join forces with pious crusaders, barbaric local warriors, and even one of the legendary god callers. It's a race against time as the companions fight their way across a broken land, facing off against fiends, monsters, and a vampire intent on becoming the god of blood - but will unearthing the dangerous book save the world or destroy it completely?

Growth in characters, story and technique

Dave Gross can do no wrong with these characters. He levels up in the alternating point of view with King of Chaos.

As expected

The adventures never cease to amaze me. Count Jegarre and Radovan are two of my favorite characters in fantasy fiction. The chemistry between the two is both honorable and comical. I'm looking forward to my next listen.

Forth book in a series still going strong!

I love this series, two memorable characters on an interesting adventure together! This is one of the best pathfinder novels available.

Yet another good book in the series.

Once again the series only gets more and more flushed out. Ending humor bit was pretty funny.

Narroration had random insterts were it felt as though they re-attempted the sentence or two.

Another Great Radovan & Count Jeggare adventure.

Another home run hit with these two beloved Characters. Besides discovering more secreats about the half blooded Radovan and his devils. and the hidden abilities of the noble count. This title blows up with a epic table top quality battle against a note worth final boss. An Epic must read if you love these characters and the world and lore of Pathfinder.

a devil of a tale

the best part about this is the way the characters bounce off each other and help each other grow through the story.

some glaring contradictions in this book when compared to his previous novels in the series.
