The turning point for the entire Star Wars saga is at hand.
After years of civil war, the Separatists have battered the already faltering Republic nearly to the point of collapse. On Coruscant, the Senate watches anxiously as Supreme Chancellor Palpatine aggressively strips away more and more constitutional liberties in the name of safeguarding the Republic. Yoda, Mace Windu, and their fellow Masters grapple with the Chancellor's disturbing move to assume control of the Jedi Council. And Anakin Skywalker, the prophesied Chosen One, destined to bring balance to the Force, is increasingly consumed by his fear that his secret love, Senator Padme Amidala, will die.
As the combat escalates across the galaxy, the stage is set for an explosive endgame: Obi-Wan undertakes a perilous mission to destroy the dreaded Separatist military leader General Grievous. Palpatine, eager to secure even greater control, subtly influences public opinion to turn against the Jedi. And a conflicted Anakin, tormented by unspeakable visions, edges dangerously closer to the brink of a galaxy-shaping decision. It remains only for Darth Sidious, whose shadow looms ever larger, to strike the final staggering blow against the Republic...and to ordain a fearsome new Sith Lord: Darth Vader.

"Stover fills in the blanks regarding one of cinema's most fascinating villains with respect and relish, providing answers to such questions as why Vader looked so weird and how he became Luke's dad. This is the perfect companion to the blockbuster film." (Publishers Weekly)
This book was just as great as the prior books in the series. I cannot wait until I can read the rest of the books. The voices were great and pace at which it was read was just perfect. A must read for all Star Wars fans.
character building explanations
My least favorite movie of the series but my favorite book. Great character building. Great story, you really feel what Anakin is going through. The actor sucked.
The way he write makes it so immersive.Never over explain combat and so much whats going on inside the head of the characters.
How long and amazing he write the first fight against Tyranus aka Dooku. If only it was that good in the movie and the movie fight was great.
Just as good, he is amazing !
So many, hard to pick just one.
Really hope Stover get to write the VII novel.
If they like Star Wars, then yes. In a heartbeat. The story itself is good, and the audiobook is superbly read.
I like how the author fixed some of the movie's problems. His prose is a bit flowery at times, but I think it fits the epic feel of Star Wars. All novelizations should be this good.
Davis tells the story wonderfully, doing everything one would expect from a first-class reader. On top of that, the audiobook includes Star Wars theme music, sounds for blasters, lightsabers, and spaceship fights, along with machine-like enhancements for the voices of robotic characters (C-3PO, Grievous). I think they even brought in other voice actors for supporting roles. As far as readings go, this is the best one I've ever listened to.
I very much liked the scene where Palpatine revealed himself to Anakin.
Quite high, in my personal opinion. Definitely in my top five.
The descriptions of the events that took place. Strange thing to say, I know, but in the film, everything just sort of HAPPENED. You don't get much more context than you need to see progression take place. Contrary to the movie, however, the novelization is able to go more in-depth with each character's motives, actions, and environment, and Stover's superb writing helped as well.
His performances of the book's characters were very convincing. He shows variety in his range and a talent for bringing life to the pages of the book.
For any Star Wars fan, this is a must-read. Or listen. Pick one. It's masterfully written and read much the same way.
I recommend this to all Star Wars fans. If you felt let down by episode III you need to listen to not read this book. Unconstrained by movie run time you start to truly see the decline of the Republic and Anakin.
The backround sounds, the narrator and story was fantastic and I highly recommend for sci-fi and star wars fans.
When Anakin turned to the dark side.
It sent shivers down my spine for most of the story.
Excellent narration and excellecent story. Amazing backround sounds to make you feel in the moment. Simply amazing.
