Publisher's summary

Agent Franks of the U.S. Monster Control Bureau is a man of many parts - parts from other people, that is. Franks is nearly seven feet tall and all muscle. He's nearly indestructible. Plus he’s animated by a powerful alchemical substance and inhabited by a super-intelligent spirit more ancient than humanity itself. Good thing he’s on our side. More or less.

Sworn to serve and protect the United States of America from all monsters by one of the country’s founding fathers, Franks has only one condition to the agreement: No matter what the government learns of him, no matter what is discovered concerning his odd physiology or the alchemy behind the elixir that made him, the government is never, ever allowed to try and make more like him. Such is absolutely forbidden and should the powers-that-be do so, then the agreement is null and void.

Project Nemesis: in a secret location, using sophisticated technology and advanced genetic engineering, the director of the very agency Franks works for is making more like him. And the director is not content with making one. Nope, he’s making 13. Now all bets are off, and Hell hath no fury like a monster betrayed. Particularly if that monster happens to be an undying killing machine capable of taking out vampires and werewolves with one hand tied behind his back.

Great Book

I love this series and can't wait for the next book. I hope the author keeps on writing more books.

Good Stand Alone

This is the first book that I have ever read in this Series, and I was able to enjoy it. During the first few chapters I felt a bit lost, but after that enough new stuff had been established that I felt like I understood everything that was going on.
My opinion of the book got better and better as it continued. I'm likely to read more of the series.

Spectacular

Agent Franks is the coolest monster ever. This author knows how to kick a story into overdrive and keep it redlined all the way. I can't say enough good words about the Monster Hunter series.

Very good background book about Franks

It was good to finally get some in-depth, more than less, background history into who Agent Franks truly is and what makes him so special. Would have liked to have seen more stories with the plot twist character included but understand the necessity for his...
Would also like to see more inclusion of MHI characters as they are key to this series as well as a cross over to Grimnoir characters as well since there is an occasional inclusion of these characters in that series and that makes for more entertaining reading.

Good, but not the best of the series

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

If you have not read any of the MHI series, don't start here. The previous books were better and you will be lost if you start here. If you have read/listened to the others......well, you kind of have to get this one.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

The ending was ok, not any real surprises...sorry!

Which scene was your favorite?

Frankenstien vs. Wolfman - that scene kicked major ass!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Took me 3 evenings to get it all in.

Any additional comments?

Love the series, the narrator, and the author. This was however, my least favorite in the series. Franks is one of my least favorite characters in the books, so that played a big part in my Eh!? feelings toward this installment. It did tie in more of the plot leading toward the big Good vs. Evil showdown and I did "like" the book, just not as well.

least favorite in an amazing series thus far...

I am in awe of Larry's storytelling. This is clearly a labor of love. His details are stunning. his story arc is unexpected, but so clearly planned in retrospect. I know as I listen to each book twice. I can't help but listen ahead of my son, a 13 year old who started 'listening over my shoulder ' and fell in love with the series. I have listened to ever book in this series AND the Grimniore series. I will get to relisten again to a three book series that was unique and unpredictable.

Loved it!

Great book. Can't wait for the next! The only issue I have, is that Franks has to weight at least 425! ;)

MHI without much MHI - But still awesome

This MHI did not feature many of the characters that previously dominated the series. This lack of MHI does not detract from the book or the series in any way. In this book, we get intimate with Agent Franks and Heather. The story lines were great. It really opens up the series. The tone and feel of this book is the same as the others. Nemesis is the audible equivalent of a page turner. I really enjoyed it. If you enjoyed the other books in the series, I would suggest you pick this up.
