Publisher's summary

Agent Franks of the U.S. Monster Control Bureau is a man of many parts - parts from other people, that is. Franks is nearly seven feet tall and all muscle. He's nearly indestructible. Plus he’s animated by a powerful alchemical substance and inhabited by a super-intelligent spirit more ancient than humanity itself. Good thing he’s on our side. More or less.

Sworn to serve and protect the United States of America from all monsters by one of the country’s founding fathers, Franks has only one condition to the agreement: No matter what the government learns of him, no matter what is discovered concerning his odd physiology or the alchemy behind the elixir that made him, the government is never, ever allowed to try and make more like him. Such is absolutely forbidden and should the powers-that-be do so, then the agreement is null and void.

Project Nemesis: in a secret location, using sophisticated technology and advanced genetic engineering, the director of the very agency Franks works for is making more like him. And the director is not content with making one. Nope, he’s making 13. Now all bets are off, and Hell hath no fury like a monster betrayed. Particularly if that monster happens to be an undying killing machine capable of taking out vampires and werewolves with one hand tied behind his back.

Amusing listen

monster hunter was a wild choice not my usual story to listen but combines a lot of different things in a book. humorous and violent but interesting to follow. nemesis was my fourth and I missed listening to the first book. I still want to go back and listen to all books in succession. the characters are amusing even if they die down the plot, the narrator give it charm and I will wait for the next book with anticipation.

Franks works

If you could sum up Monster Hunter Nemesis in three words, what would they be?

The Monster Hunter world is still alive in this book. Larry had a great idea in using Franks as the main character, giving the reader (listener) another perspective to color in this universe.

What about Oliver Wyman’s performance did you like?

Awesome, one of the best

Any additional comments?

best to start from the beginning of the series

Franks at his finest!!!

I never thought Franks would make such a great protagonist... I found myself really loving the character. This is actually my favorite MHI book now.

Still Pretty Darn Good....

Usually as a series goes on I find they get predictable, and somewhat worn out. When I first started this 4th installment of Monster Hunter, I was a little, meh... But once I let go and got past the first half hour or so, I started to enjoy it quite a lot. The usual 'stars' from the first books are not the center of this book (no spoilers). But that actually, in the end, worked out for the best. If you liked the first three, you'll like this too I think.

The MHI series just keeps getting better

What made the experience of listening to Monster Hunter Nemesis the most enjoyable?

The focus on Franks, great story, and perfect narration.

What did you like best about this story?

I like the way the series is focusing certain books on the back story of specific characters. This one focused on the enigmatic Special Agent Franks and was really good.

Have you listened to any of Oliver Wyman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, he's a fantastic narrator.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

When it comes to really good books, I like to listen to chunks at a time, to make it last longer.

Any additional comments?

This is a really good series, especially if you like horror. It puts a nice spin on monster stories. The characters are wonderful, the pace of the story is good, and there's humor along the way. Doesn't get better than that!

Larry and Oliver = The best collaboration ever!

Larry Correia and Oliver Wyman might just be the best combination of author and narrator I've ever heard. This story is amazing! And, I've listened to the other books before this one too. But together the combination of voice variety, humor, and making the story line come alive surpasses anything I have heard up to now. And, I don't think its easy to do this at all, but it seems like Oliver really understands the ins and outs of all the characters and makes them come alive. I felt like I was right there in the story as I listened along. The quality Oliver gives to each characters voices is so good it's unreal. More like a movie than a book. Great stuff, can't put if down. Keep 'em coming! I've become a real fan. I would really recommend this book, but not for the young or the squeamish.
