Publisher's summary

Monster Hunter International might be the premier monster eradication company in the business, but they’ve got competition.

When hunters from around the world gather in Las Vegas for a conference, a creature left over from a World War Two weapons experiment wakes up and goes on a rampage across the desert. A not-so-friendly wager between the rival companies turns into a race to see who can bag the mysterious creature first. Only there is far more to this particular case than meets the eye, and as Hunters fall prey to their worst nightmares, Owen Zastava Pitt and the staff of Monster Hunter International have to stop an ancient god from turning Sin City into a literal hell on earth.

Critic reviews

"Oliver Wyman narrates the entire tale with a swagger in his voice. Even the chapter headings sound aggressive. His characters are so unique that at times listeners may think there's a second narrator." ( AudioFile)

Z is back!

Except for some audio mismatches and glitches in the recording, Larry and Oliver deliver another solid downpayment on the franchise. It'll be interesting to see how many side trips with the STFU team (Heather) we get to make before Z runs out of time...

Excellent

I actually listened to this story a second time. I never do that the author and the narrative are both exceptional. Well worth your time.

Larry Correia's Monster Hunter series is the best.

I've been on board the Monster Hunter bandwagon for a couple of years now. I can't recommend this series enough and especially the Audible version. Top notch production and the narrator is amazing.

Another BOMBASTIC Sequel

If you loved the last 4 Monster Hunter books, chances are you'll love this one too. Just as much if not somehow more action and explosions as the previous books, but add a political power struggle behind the scenes on top of all that. Larry Correia hit it out of the park with this one, and the Narrator did an amazing job bringing more life to the story.

Characterizations were wonderful

Liked the narration, the plot and the whole storyline. I hope the author keeps writing more novels on this theme.

What happens in Vegas dies in Vegas

If you could sum up Monster Hunter Legion in three words, what would they be?

massive butt kicking

What was one of the most memorable moments of Monster Hunter Legion?

I like when they find a dragon running things underneath one of the casions. This kind of came out of left field.

What about Oliver Wyman’s performance did you like?

he has a wide range of voices and captures the humor and emotion of the series quite well.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Without spoiling anything I was sad to see a character from the previous book die. It was interesting to see Pitt have to grow up a bit and accept the consequences of orders he gives.

Any additional comments?

Great book and I can't wait for the next as it will be from the POV of Agent Franks.

MHI Fans Won't Be Disappointed

Most people reading this review have already read the three previous books in this series (if you haven't, stop reading now, and pick up "Monster Hunter International--you'll be glad you did). If so, then don't hesitate to download this book. Correia is back with a great new story, ably assisted by Oliver Wyman, who is at his best in this book.

The writing is tighter in this installment than in at least the previous two, but Correia seems to have lost none of his enthusiasm for his characters. Most of your old faves are back, plus the guys you love to hate. MHL introduces new players to the scene, and makes more expanded use of some which heretofore had been minor characters. New allies, new enemies, new monsters--with Las Vegas as a backdrop. Fans of MHI can't go wrong with this one.

I keep coming back to these books

I’m a big fan of the Monster Hunter books. I was hooked when I stumbled upon book one, Monster Hunter International, and haven’t looked back since. I knew what to expect: Big guys with big guns shooting at big monsters. Sold.

Being that this is the fourth book in the Monster Hunter series, I’m going to assume you know what to expect. If you’re knew to the series: You know those action movies you watch just so you can see explosions, hand-to-hand fights, and gun battles? This series is kind of like that. There is more to them of course, Correia is a very good writer, but the battles with giant ancient gods and the ferocious skirmishes between werewolves and vampires is what really keeps me coming back.

Owen “Z” Pitt and the rest of MHI are in Las Vegas for the first ever Monster Hunter Convention, along with hunters from around the world. It was supposed to be a time to compare notes with other hunters from other countries. Of course, considering the profession they’ve chosen, things don’t go according to plan. The hunters find themselves quarantined in the Last Dragon Hotel & Casino battling horrors from their past, and trying to keep the civilians from being sacrificed for nefarious purposes by Mr. Stricken. Owen’s father-in-law, Ray Shackleford, gives him news that will change his life forever. All the while he finds himself face to face with a being thought extinct and the rest of the hunters from around the world battle a creature of nightmarish proportions and otherworldly power.

I keep coming back to these books; they’re action-packed, well written, and full of mythological and fantastic creatures. With the narration done by Oliver Wyman, which is always great, I’ll continue to come back. Wyman is a favorite of mine and always delivers a solid performance. He brings the words to life with distinct voices, enthusiastic delivery, and stellar production quality.
