Publisher's summary

Monster Hunter International might be the premier monster eradication company in the business, but they’ve got competition.

When hunters from around the world gather in Las Vegas for a conference, a creature left over from a World War Two weapons experiment wakes up and goes on a rampage across the desert. A not-so-friendly wager between the rival companies turns into a race to see who can bag the mysterious creature first. Only there is far more to this particular case than meets the eye, and as Hunters fall prey to their worst nightmares, Owen Zastava Pitt and the staff of Monster Hunter International have to stop an ancient god from turning Sin City into a literal hell on earth.

There is a lot going on - and it is great

Monster hunters from all over the world gather in Las Vegas for its first ever conference. Of course the Monster Hunter International team is there. Meeting the other monster hunter teams is fun and interesting. There are some additional characters from the Board that regulates monster hunting in the US attending the conference. A fascinating and courtly dragon in introduced. The bad dreams start and the worst nightmares from the hunters come to life. Terrifying! Owen Pit is on the scene and this is one of the toughest battles he has been in - it extends beyond this world. A really good MHI book.

Another Score...

I really enjoy Larry Correia, and you probably do too if you are on the fourth book of the series. The Monster Hunter series does not not take a huge amount of brain power to enjoy, but these books are well written. I think this book stands up as well as any in this series. The narration is also excellent. Thanks Mr. Correia, and I cant wait till the next book.

Back to the main track

After the deviation in format from the previous book, it's back to the original formula.

Much better the 2nd time around.

First off, I absolutely love the MHI series. This is my second time reading through it. This book, was my least favorite during my first run through. However, it might just be one of my top favorites in the series now that I've read it again. Lots of action, cool concepts, and very thrilling. I can't wait to start the next book! As always, the narrator is phenomenal. Highly recommend.

Great except for the final fight...

I always enjoy the Monster Hunter stories. The only critique I have is that the resolution to the problem presented always seems underwhelming. The characters are well done, the fights are well written and the stories are engaging but the final fight/conflict just feels rushed or just 'because they are good guys of course they will win'.

Still a great listen and well worth the time and money!
