Publisher's summary

Dani "Mega" O’Malley plays by her own set of rules - and in a world overrun by Dark Fae, her biggest rule is: Do what it takes to survive. Possessing rare talents and the all-powerful Sword of Light, Dani is more than equipped for the task. In fact, she’s one of the few humans who can defend themselves against the Unseelie. But now, amid the pandemonium, her greatest gifts have turned into serious liabilities.

Dani’s ex–best friend, MacKayla Lane, wants her dead, the terrifying Unseelie princes have put a price on her head, and Inspector Jayne, the head of the police force, is after her sword and will stop at nothing to get it. What’s more, people are being mysteriously frozen to death all over the city, encased on the spot in sub-zero, icy tableaux.

When Dublin’s most seductive nightclub gets blanketed in hoarfrost, Dani finds herself at the mercy of Ryodan, the club’s ruthless, immortal owner. He needs her quick wit and exceptional skill to figure out what’s freezing Fae and humans dead in their tracks - and Ryodan will do anything to ensure her compliance.

Dodging bullets, fangs, and fists, Dani must strike treacherous bargains and make desperate alliances to save her beloved Dublin - before everything and everyone in it gets iced.

Love this book, I had to read it AND listen to it!

What made the experience of listening to Iced the most enjoyable?

I read this when it first came out and then waited patiently for the sequel, but I just couldn't wait anymore and needed to revisit it as an audio book and it did not disappoint. I love that they have two narrartors so you can better imagine the alpha males without the 'female' narrarators trying to do deep voices. That drives me crazy. Both performances were good.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Iced?

Ryoden's quotes are awesome.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. and then some.

Great surprise!!!

Where does Iced rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I was not sure because of the Dani being the main character in this story. I was pleasantly surprised, it was what I expected from Ms. Moning. The story was well developed and the characters grew in complexity. The story was very good and the narration was perfect. The ending leaves you wanting more. It is well worth the credit.

What other book might you compare Iced to and why?

Similar to the previous series.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me laugh and it made me wonder why Dani has similar powers to Ryderon ?

Good story

I am a huge fan of the fever series but this was hard for me to get into. I like Mac a lot and Dani annoyed me a little. I felt frustrated with her hang ups and aggravated with her immaturity. This felt to me like a young adult type novel since the main character is so young and I was not a fan. Dani is young and naive about so much and the ego she possesses is off putting. Everyone was lusting after her but she is 14. Eww. I will buy the next novel because I want to know what happens between her and Mac. Hopefully the next book will not feel so difficult to get into and lagging.

Could have been a contender...

Dani O'Malley is a 14-year old girl with amazing abilities, ninja like fighting skills, and a sword of light that will kill any seelie. With all that being said, she is in for one hell of a ride that she may not survive. A new threat is in town freezing unsuspecting victims at random, her bestie Mac is on the hunt for her, and she has two dudes competing for her eternal love...Wow! You are about to get ICED!

Iced is book 6 in the Fever series, and it's all about the teenager who gives no worries, Dani O'Malley. Dani dances to the beat of her own drum, and the fact that she's been left to her own devices for quite some time doesn't mean she is mature enough to live in a grown up world on her own, she just learned how to survive is all. Survival is the most basic instinct we all have, do or die right? So when Ryodan comes stomping in and basically enslaves Dani into helping him find out who is freezing people around town, the mom in me screams! Ryodan may be useful with some protection, but nothing else. He is such a evil man, and the thoughts he begins to have for a 14 year old are quiet disturbing. Con #1 for me in this book. Christian is becoming an Unseelie Prince no thanks to Mac feeding him their flesh in order to save him from death. When Christian meets Dani he falls for her hard. He is super creepy and very open about what he wants to do to her, ewe....So at some point he and Ryodan get into a bird fighting stance with each other over A 14 YEAR OLD! Con #2 Dani is only 14 so her inner dialogue gets really annoying at times with her immature, stubborn and bullheaded rants about what the “grown-ups” are trying to force her to do. Granted what they want is immoral, but that is not what or why she is ranting about it, she is simply being an obnoxious teenager that doesn't want to do it because they are telling her to. She played both sides of the field when it suited her, and that really irritated the nerve out of me after a while.

The pro's of the book don't outweigh the con's but instead made my experience interesting. I loved the mystery part of the story, trying to find out who was freezing people. It was exciting to see Ryodan, Christian, Dani, and friends come together as one to fight the big bad. I learned more personal details about the characters that weren't focused on much in the other books. A new element was introduced into the story with the “We Care” group that is trying to shut Dani's Daily out. I really do love the Fever series but this book for me was the least desirable so far. I did like Dani's character but not for an entire book. I tolerated Ryodan before once we found out (well kinda) what he is but certainly not now. I loved Christian and his character was served a messed up hand. See where my dilemma is?! It's a love/hate thing with this book, AGH! You be the judge.

Narrator Review

Phil Gigante and Natalie Ross both serve a wonderful performance! I have always enjoyed them from book 1. Natalie performs an Irish accent with some difficulty however. I really started noticing the strain and drawing out of words after the first half of the book. Irish accents are hard, and I've heard some really bad attempts, and Natalie does the best job I've heard so far. This duo brings the Fever series to life for me, and I truly have enjoyed the experience.
