Publisher's summary

Dani "Mega" O’Malley plays by her own set of rules - and in a world overrun by Dark Fae, her biggest rule is: Do what it takes to survive. Possessing rare talents and the all-powerful Sword of Light, Dani is more than equipped for the task. In fact, she’s one of the few humans who can defend themselves against the Unseelie. But now, amid the pandemonium, her greatest gifts have turned into serious liabilities.

Dani’s ex–best friend, MacKayla Lane, wants her dead, the terrifying Unseelie princes have put a price on her head, and Inspector Jayne, the head of the police force, is after her sword and will stop at nothing to get it. What’s more, people are being mysteriously frozen to death all over the city, encased on the spot in sub-zero, icy tableaux.

When Dublin’s most seductive nightclub gets blanketed in hoarfrost, Dani finds herself at the mercy of Ryodan, the club’s ruthless, immortal owner. He needs her quick wit and exceptional skill to figure out what’s freezing Fae and humans dead in their tracks - and Ryodan will do anything to ensure her compliance.

Dodging bullets, fangs, and fists, Dani must strike treacherous bargains and make desperate alliances to save her beloved Dublin - before everything and everyone in it gets iced.

Pleasantly surprised!!

It's been years since I finished Shadowfever so it was nice to be reacquainted with the supporting characters of the first 5 novels from a different perspective. I had read not so good reviews about this one and I wasn't very happy with the ending of Shadowfever so I wasn't expecting much but it happily delivered.

I LOVED this series and was overjoyed to see this new book... a good job referencing earlier books without being redundant or boring. A great story with tons of openings for continuing, perhaps a fww too many, but so what? C'mon, I want the next one now! !

Does the author present information in a way that is interesting and insightful, and if so, how does he achieve this?

The same way as always. ...

What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?

Nothing.

I want the next book!!!

Mega superhero!

Such a great book just on Danny. I love this character. Danny’s story kept me on the edge of my seat and holding my breath to see what’s going to happen each time she finds herself in a situation. Her back story is more talked about. Through it all she’s a girl of power, fortitude, and love of life not matter what brings her down. MegaTeenage superstar.

Painful accent made it impossible.

I have loved reading the Fever series for years, fell off reading a bit and began listening to audiobooks in general. I was listening to this and was about to turn on my headphones when my English mother asked "Who's doing that horrid accent?" "What's it meant to be?". I felt the same way. It is awful. I think I'm going to have to break out my glasses and buy the books. I'm struggling to come to terms with a 14yr old and all the lusty men.

I want more of this exciting, promising new series

Iced is being held as the 6th fever book or the first book in the Dani O’Malley series. KKM promised that there will be two more Dani books (Burned and Flayed)…I can only imagine what is to come.

I think this series is starting off much like the Fever series did (Dark Fever, first book) and KKM. I like the way the author takes time to really introduce each character and to let the reader get to know them. At first glance this may seem like slow development, but for me it helps me to become vested in the characters. In The Fever series Dani was a supporting or side character and Mac was the main character with Barrons being an ever present factor. In Iced, Dani is the lead and the others are revolving around her. There is much more to this girl that I ever expected. Dani is 14 years old, but this is not Young Adult Reading. Let me repeat, not Young Adult Reading.

After listing to a few chapters I was totally hooked once again. By the end of the story KKM sinks her hooks in deeper. I am already wishing the next installment of the series was out.

As always I was totally captivated by the combination of Phil G. and Natalie Ross as narrators. They have narrated several of the other Fever books that I have seriously enjoyed and this one was no different. I have to be honest, I find myself searching for other books that these two have narrated either as partners or as individuals. I have not been disappointed yet.

I am so glad I purchased his book, I loved it! I just want more!!!!! This one gets 5 stars from me!

Want a full honest review?Caution possible spoiler

Ok so first of all this is not a YA book but it's not a hot steamy romance either. It's almost like its building up to it. It has sexual references and situations but nothing like FSOG. Now a lot of readers have a problem with the fact that Danny is 14 and her potential love interests are a 17yr old boy and a 22yr old human turned unseely prince or fae/fairy whatever and an older immortal that no one knows how old he is or what he is. My view is RELAX! In this whole book NOTHING ever happens between them. The author only lets you know that these men want her but are willing to wait til she grows up. And Danny is so clueless she never sees it. So people lighten up its fiction and not to long along people in the USA were marrying at 15-16yrs.

Point two people were having problems with the narrator. On this I can agree she confused me at some points with the voices. But honestly doing several characters in Irish accents has got to be hard. But I kept listening and I got used to her voice. And there was only a few spots where her male characters voices got a bit mixed.

Point three the story. The story is actually interesting. It annoyed me a bit though how it would jump around and I didn't understand at first. But as the story goes on you see why. Now I know the story is part of a series but ending on a cliffhanger is what I really dislike. So there ya have it do what you will. I'm interested in it enough to buy the second book.

Great Book

I loved the book. I laughed out loud, and was definitely on the edge of my seat. Next bo Barron's, I love Ryodan. It is pretty obvious that he sees the woman Dani will become. I think Christian is just losing it because of the Fae prince thing. Ryodan is looking out for her, and tells her on many occassions that he would never hurt her. It is clear that he wants to keep her where he can see her at all times, and knows what she is up to. Unfortunately, our little 14yr old firecracker is very unpredictable. (Let's hope she grows up in the next book). Although she was definitely acting like a typical super-hero 14 year old; there were times when her conscious about hurting people should have kicked into high gear. Have to admit, I didn't see the whole Jo thing coming. I think eventually she will be a casualty, because she is playing with her heart. Something tells me that Ryo takes no prisoners. Not all ruthless and cold, but he has an agenda. He is definitely worth developing. He's like Barron's, the anti-hero. Not bad, but definitely not good. Somewhere in between that beautiful shade of gray. I cannot wait until the next book. Loved it.

PS - Can we have Dani grow up a bit, please!!!

Best heroine in a long time!

I really loved this book - the characters were great! Dani was such a refreshing heroine. When I first realized she was 14 I was like "this can't be good", but she was awesome. She just loves life, and she made me happy listening to her. There's this moment where she thinks she is going to freeze to death, so she cracks the biggest smile/laugh just so her body will be frozen in a happy state. I mean, you have to love someone like that!

In addition to being super positive she also kicks some serious ass. And she is super tough. I can't wait for the rest of the series! Natalie Ross does a great job with her as well.
I also think I might have a small book-crush on Ryodan. YUM. Phil Gigante gives him an awesome voice.

I never read the Fever-series, and I think I might have had a slight disadvantage because of it. The world isn't explained in enough detail, so I'm still sort of confused about the sidhe-seers, the Sinsar Dubh, the Unseelie and the story concerning Cruce. While I'm waiting for Burned I think I'll read Fever. Still, the plot is good, and it's all entertaining. It's suspense and SO funny. I laughed so hard at some of the dialog between Dani and the other characters (mostly Ryodan), as well as Danis inner monologue. I really recommend you read this!

"Life's a choice: you can live in black and white, or you can live in color. I'll take every shade of the rainbow and the gazillion in between!” -Dani
