I don't know how she does it.

I am amazed at how well Ms Jones writes the crime portions. I am even more amazed that they don't turn me off the series. Living with it at work is enough.

Charlie is so resilient in the face of everything she has to deal with. I keep pulling for her and can't wait to see where the series goes. Can she and Reyes has happily ever after?

Ms King is quickly becoming one of my favorite performers. I have yet to hear her break character. She brings the word to life.

Fourth Grave: Finally Sex

It’s simply necessary to suspend your disbelief, enjoy this impossible circus of thrills, and finally get to ride along with Charlie as she has sex with the devil’s son.

I HEART Charley!

I've blasted through the first 4 books and am eagerly waiting for the next. It's my best compliment to any book series! The author has done an amazing blend: a unique spin on paranormal with Charley's abilities, well fleshed out characters with a solid story line (some points I might guess in advance, but often the way it ends up there is a surprise), and smart mouthed fast paced action, that could be dark, but manages to find the bright and positive and keeps the story light without swarminess. Some stories can be so pithy that it can grate like sandpaper with all that negativity in the story. Jones seems to be able to keep a balance with humor and zingers and not let the sarcasm overwhelm and bury the story in dark depression. If I was going to point a finger at any one little thing, it might be a slight annoyance of Charley's denseness at times - but finally she is starting to get some of it and find a smidgeon of her powers. Maybe because she didn't get as much coffee as usual? Now there's a thought! It's great to see her growing and learning. The narrator has totally nailed it all the way. Download and enjoy without fear - these are great!!

Just Keeps Getting Better and Better!

Would you consider the audio edition of Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet to be better than the print version?

N/A - I haven't read the print version. That's why I have Audible. Now I can listen to my favorite authors while cleaning the house, driving down the road, grocery shopping . . .

Who was your favorite character and why?

Charley! She's one of my all-time favorite characters. You just never know what she's going to do next.

Which character – as performed by Lorelei King – was your favorite?

Reyes Farrow - his voice is so sexy. Lorelei King is a truly talented performer. It's a real treat to listen to a female narrator who can pull off a believable male voice without sounding like she has a cold.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did listen to it in one sitting. I started when I got up in the morning and was still listening at dinnertime.

Any additional comments?

Darynda Jones is a truly talented writer. I know this series gets compared to Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series (which I also read), but the Charley Davidson series is better written and much more original.

It Just Gets Better

I loved this book. It was nice to see that the events of the previous books weren't just disregarded and Charley has some psychological scars from being tortured that didn't just disappear. It was nice to see some more interaction between her and her sister as well as Reyes of course. The main mystery was interesting and I didn't guess who did it until it was revealed as well as the other twist to that portion of the story. I loved the progression of her "relationship" with Reyes and the continueing encroachment of the demons. And of course, the narrator, Lorelei King was fabulous as usual. I am a little over Charley's penchant for naming everything under the sun though. It was a little distracting and I forgot exactly what she was talking about sometimes because she kept refering to that portion of her anatomy by a cutesy name instead of an actual body part name. I would recommend this book but I would start with book 1 in the series instead of here otherwise it would be hard to figure out exactly who all the players are and what is going on.

Another Awesome Charley Davidson Story

Charley has to face her fears and get back to what she does best. The character development is perfect in this book. We follow Charley's journey as she tries to put herself back together after the last book. We see who her true friends are and how far they will go to help her recover.

Her sarcasm and ADD are as strong and entertaining as ever! Plus Reyes is around, and that's always a bonus!

Once again, the narration is spot on! I highly recommend this entire series!

so far, I think this is the best book yet. very appreciative of the way the author addresses PTSD.
