Publisher's summary

In the dark, fear and desire are one.... Alexander Roman wants nothing to do with the controlling rulers of his vampire breed or the family he escaped from a hundred years ago. But as a new threat to the pureblood vampires emerges, Alexander's ties to the past are forced upon him again, and without warning, he finds himself - disoriented, terrified, and near death - at the door of a stranger.

Dr. Sara Donahue is dedicated to removing the traumatic memories of her patients - like those of the stranger at her front door. But what he tells her of his past is too astonishing to believe. Yet she has seen his flesh scarred by the sun and witnessed his inhuman strength. And never before has she felt so connected to a man.... But as their worlds collide, Sara and Alexander are bound by something stronger, as one becomes hunter and the other, prey.

Cheesy with too much foul language

Would you try another book from Laura Wright and/or Tavia Gilbert?

The storyline and presentation is somewhat cheesy and the constant cursing and crudeness of the sex scenes ruined an otherwise interesting plot for me. I would read from boredom only.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Ending does make you want to know what happens in the next story but you can predict a lot of it.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Yes

Did Eternal Hunger inspire you to do anything?

Usual cliche vamp story but with a little twist

I think Tavia Gilbert did a good job, her voice is much better suited for his series than Night Huntress. I am intrigued by Lucian and Browyn, but I see I will have to wait to book 3 to get sanctification.

Alexander Roman was out hunting blood when the Dawn approached rapidly. He found himself trapped and managed to crawl up the steps to a random person's house before passing out.

Dr. Sara Donohue came back from her shift at the hospital to find a man in front of her house. She dragged him inside and quickly found herself facing one of her former patients who was stalking her. As the stalker tried to kidnap her, Alex recovered enough to save her.

This incident catapulted Sara into the battle between pure and impure blooded vampires.

This book was definitely okay, but it suffered from all the usual issues you expect from 1st in series. I like that it had all the cliche stuff like flying vampires, wiping memories but it had a little different twist with the vampire communities that sounded like cults. The writing was okay as well, I wasn't blown away by the characters or the world building, but I entertained enough to keeping listening to it. I will continue this one

Copy Cat

What did you like best about Eternal Hunger? What did you like least?

If you have never read any Vampire stories before then this is a good book. However because I have read JR Ward, Lara Adrian and the like I thought the writer took elements from other authors and put them in this book. Do not get me wrong it was a good book but a waste of time for those of us who have read vampire stories from other authors. Nice try but no cigar!!!!

What do you think your next listen will be?

A story by Nalini Singh

Which scene was your favorite?

I really didn't have one.

Was Eternal Hunger worth the listening time?

I listen to books cause of heavy traffic during my commute so it wasn't a waste of time because other wise I would have been frustrated while sitting in traffic.

Any additional comments?

The author is a duplicater not an originator. A new author to try who has a totally new spin on the vampire genre is Julie Kagawa!!!

great book

Would you consider the audio edition of Eternal Hunger to be better than the print version?

yes I find it very useful when the need arises to perform other tasks

What was one of the most memorable moments of Eternal Hunger?

when Sara found out she would be okay and could be with Alex.

Have you listened to any of Tavia Gilbert’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes Ms Gilbert is superb. She brings the right amount of dramatization to the characters. I also love the way she does accents I never have to guess what the accents is suppose to be as Ms. Gilbert's accents are very clear

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

no not an extreme reaction.

Any additional comments?

Right mix of action, suspense and romance

Meh? So so, not terribly engrossing

Well, I’m not completely sure about this series, yet. It definitely didn’t hold my interest. I kept finding myself having to go back because I lost my focus. Based on the reviews, I’m going to try one more book, in the series, before I decide to throw in the towel.

Easy listen, kept me interested.

I found this series through another Jeaneane Frost fan. While this book cannot compete with her Night Huntress and Night Prince series, it's a solid start and will tide me over until her next release.

The narrator is fantastic and does a good job keeping everyone's voices unique and recognizable. The story itself was pretty good, new twist to vampire lore with a romance thrown in. There is a fair amount of swearing and use of the word c**t, so if that's a turn off than this book may not be for you.

Other PRN books I think are fantastic are anything by Jeaneane Frost, Dianne Duvall's Immortal Guardian Series, Jacqueline Frank's Nightwalker Series, Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter Series. Patricia Brigg's Alpha and Omega series is really good too, thou more just paranormal than a PRN. Most of these are available in the Romance Package which is a bonus if you like to binge.

Bold!

Received for Review from Library Thing
Read: December 2010 (review posted late so not applicable to challenges)

What I Loved: The brothers (all 3 of them) were unique and interesting to read. The world is different enough from most I have read to set it apart from the ever growing number of PNR/UF worlds out there. The romance between the two leads was very unique and I think the angle that the author took was a very good choice for them. I am hoping for a little romance in the next books but this worked for these two characters.

What I Liked: A glimpse into the rest of the series. This world has many possibilities and it is easy to see where the future of the series can go. Getting to meet the characters and grow attached to them in the first book is one of my favorite things about series in general.

Complaints: The middle was a little repetitive at times but overall it did not distract from the story.

Why I gave it a 3.5: I felt the author was bold in giving her world a little twist and it was a little refreshing to see a new tweak on an old setting. Also just to note, I am one of those who often find the 1rst book in the series is my least favorite and if that is the case in this series I am excited because this was a good read.

Who I would recommend it to: PNR Readers and UF if you don't mind the HEA.

Pretty good

I felt like I needed to give a review just to say, don’t listen to what anyone says in a review, because they don’t know how you would like something. I thought this book was great! Very entertaining and had romance and a good plot. Tavia is a really good narrator and does both male and female voices very well. If you read the synopsis and think this could be something you’d enjoy, but reviews are iffy, just listen for yourself and be the judge. Everyone says the next book in the series is way better than the first, but this one was high on the list so we’ll see have to see.
