The arcana chronicles don't disappoint!

I thought the first book was good. The second one was even better. I have read and listened to each one twice. Each time I go through the story again, I am reminded why I love this series so much!

Just as Great as the First Book!

Sometimes a sequel doesn't live up to the first book, but that's not the case here. Endless Knight was a seamless continuation of the thrilling story set up in Poison Princess.

I really enjoy the way that Cole submerges you in the story. She builds characters and settings that are so easy to believe and nothing seems forced...including Evie's feelings for both Jack and Death.

I would hesitate to call this a YA novel, though, as it is steamier than any other YA novel I've listened too!!

And I truly adore the narration. When I started Poison Princess, I worried that Ms. Gavin's accent might get on my nerves, but it didn't take me long to fall in love with her narration. One of my favorites!

You will be surprised who you love & who you hate.

The ending makes me sad. Full of unanswered questions but too many assumptions. It's interesting and odd the turns the story takes in this section of the series. I'm at once riveted by the love story (very pg 13) and saddened by choices made. The story lets loose some of its edginess, and deftly turns into a triangle of sorts. The first book in the series, "poison princess" had a Texas chain saw massacre meets zombie apocalypse with a touch of shady back country southern swagger. This book starts to feel more mystical and dreamy. The setting is lighter but the characters are still dark. Blackened by a nature they struggle to fight. The book delves deeper into the poison princesses thoughts and past lives even briefly mentioning the Greek gods roles in arcana history. This book is a unique twist to a second book in a series. While the characters are somewhat dependent on the first book the story is uniquely it's own in the second. So you will not feel like the book is dragging on or too repetitive. Can't wait for more of this suspenseful love luster.

You will be surprised which characters you begin to love in this book and hate.

Love!!!

Where does Endless Knight: Arcana Chronicles, Book 2 rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

OMG!!! I loved this book. I couldn't stop listening. Literally just stopped hanging out with my family so I could listen day and night. More than all of the arcana stuff happening, I was enthralled with the love story/love triangle. I wanted to punch Evie in the face some times, and other times, I was cheering for her. The character development of Jack and Death is just so good. My only complaint is the voice of death by Emma Gavin. He sounds like an arrogant unattractive elitest who's going through puberty. It took away from the attraction of death. But I still couldn't stop listening. The ending is phenomenal and I could not wait to read the next book. You'll love it. You must read!!

Fast-paced and sexy! Can't wait for the next book!

If you could sum up Endless Knight in three words, what would they be?

Nail-biter (that's one word, right?), steamy, surprising. Or maybe "Your Death awaits"?

What was one of the most memorable moments of Endless Knight?

There are so many...I can't narrow it down to just one! Endless Knight is cover-to-cover action. Without giving any spoilers, my favourite moment comes towards the end of the book, when Evie learns just how skilled Death really is. Wow. In fact, I loved almost all of the interaction between Evie and Death in the second half of the book.

Other memorable moments include meeting new Arcana (both friend and foe), Evie going hardcore Empress and coming into her powers, and Jack and Evie "checking the perimeter".

Have you listened to any of Emma Galvin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Emma Galvin is one of my favourite narrators. I wouldn't have discovered Poison Princess (the predecessor to Endless Knight) if I hadn't been so impressed with her other audio performances and sought out audiobooks narrated by her. She makes the story come alive.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes! I nearly did too.

Any additional comments?

The world that Kresley Cole has built for Endless Knight (and the first book in the series, Poison Princess), from the tarot card players (Arcana) to the post-apocalyptic world, is fascinating.

I would have given the story five stars but the cliffhanger ending was too abrupt for my liking. I like suspense and I understand that it builds anticipation for the next book, but it left me feeling like the book was unfinished.

And for adults wondering if Endless Knight is age-appropriate, other than the ages of the main characters, I wouldn't even classify this as young adult. There's way more sexual content than I'd feel comfortable letting my teen read, but I loved it. Is it hot in here?

Cole is a master!

First Impression:
Cole is a master at delivering a dark and interesting dystopian world and I can’t get enough of it.

Favorite Line/Quote(s):
“Cannibals need love too.”
“Death wants to gank me. Must be Tuesday.”

The Narration:
Emma Galvin has the prefect voice for this series. She has a young and smokey voice that allows her to pull of both the female and male characters.

What I liked:
I’m not a huge YA reader and one of the things I love about Endless Knight is that it doesn’t feel like YA. Cole weaves a very compelling story of romance, action and mythology around the arcana to satisfy even non YA readers. Even though this world Cole has build is very dark she lightens it with great secondary characters and their snarky humor and she pulls off the YA romance without all the angst you get with some YA books. Sure there is a love triangle forming in Endless Knight but it’s a believable one that you would find in an adult novel.

Cole also does an amazing job with making me fall in love with the “evil” guy. And that’s hard to take a character that is seen as evil and turn him around to where you sympathize with him and want him to have a HEA.

The Arcana game is in full swing and Cole imagination is limitless and I’m in awe of the world and characters she has crafted.

What I didn’t like:
Having to wait for the next book.

Lasting Impression:
I’ll still be thinking about this book for a few more weeks.

Will I continue this series: Yes. A thousand times yes!

Would I read this author again:
YES! I love her adult PNR series, Immortals After Dark and now this series. I will read ANYTHING that has Cole’s name on it!

Good cont of this YA post-apocalyptic series

This was a good continuation of this series. I continue to enjoy this YA post-apocalyptic series where certain teens end up representing tarot cards and end up developing special powers to represent these tarot cards in a game to save or end the world.

I listened to this on audiobook and the audiobook is well done. I think the narrator does a good job with different voices and conveys emotion well.

This book focused less on what is happening in this post-apocalyptic world and more on the interactions between Death and Evie. We also meet a number of other Arcana which was interesting.

I am a bit worried that this series is turning into your typical YA love triangle type of deal. I am not a huge fan of love triangles. I plan on reading the third book and seeing where the story goes, but I am a bit leery because of where this book ends up.

Overall this was a good continuation of the Arcana Chronicles series. I enjoyed some of the new Arcana we meet and enjoyed the action scenes. I was a bit disappointed by the introduction of a love triangle of sorts. However, I am intrigued enough by the tarot card theme that I will read the third book and then decide whether or not to continue the series.
