Publisher's summary

I was raised to live a pampered life, and now it can never be mine.

As the omega who never manifested, I became the family secret. That is, until a wealthy alpha makes me a deal: Marry him and pretend to be his pack omega so he receives his inheritance. After six months, I’ll get my money and live out the rest of my life in peace.

But the deception is wearing thin—someone knows I’m not who I pretend to be. The threats to expose us get more intense, bringing my temporary mates and I even closer.

And as I start to see just how hard they're willing to fight for me, I find myself asking: Is this the happily ever after I’ve been searching for?

Get ready to meet the Steele sisters in the Bonds of Steele omegaverse series world. Each book is a standalone and can be listened to in any order. Scent of Deception features brooding, protective men, a feisty, reluctant female lead, and smoldering-hot knotty times. Please listen to the author’s note for possible triggers.

Love the entire Steele series

I have read all of the books in the Bonds of Steele series and seeing as how this is the first one to hit Audible I was quite impressed! JB & BB are AMAZING as always, they are the reason I found this book initially!

Keep them coming, I am looking forward to the rest of the books.

Good Storyline But...

The storyline itself is really good, but I kept getting pulled out of it by how slightly off the setting was. If this type of story is your jam, you'll enjoy it as long as you've never spent a significant amount of time in Nashville, The description of the city is just off. Its like trying to watch a TV show where the color isn't right. You know and like the show but its hard to focus when occasionally the lead looks a bit too orange and the trees are neon green.

Maybe it would be fine if the author wasn't putting so much writing into setting the stage of the city but as someone who has lived and worked in and around Nashville for over a decade; its just off. Its like the author memorized the landmarks, but based her description on a mix of New Orleans and LA. It doesn't feel right. And a couple tips, locals don't buy their boots on Broadway. Those are just tourist traps. Second, it isn't legal for passengers to drink in TN, that's NOLA.

Just didn’t grab and keep my attention

Basic shifter romance with miscommunications, misunderstandings, and a mysterious villain thrown into the mix for intrigue. That’s my overall take. I had trouble focusing on the story while it played. It may just be that I listened to it when I was super tired (insomnia), so take my review with a grain of salt. That said, I have no desire to go back when I am more awake to listen to it again and give it another shot. Apologies to the author. It may be that this book just wasn’t my cup of tea.
