Publisher's summary

After being a soldier, working as a bodyguard should have been simple: Keep the owner of DC’s ultra-secret club safe, don’t think about his midnight eyes or his devil’s smile, don’t surrender my body to his wicked desires.

But I underestimated Mark Trevena and the power of his dark, seductive world. I underestimated the hold he’d have on me, the way I would do anything for him at all. And so when he asks me to escort his soon-to-be bride home, I can only—miserably, broken-heartedly–say yes.

Isolde is nothing like I expect, however. Quiet and lonely and sharp, a girl who likes knives and God, a girl whose nightmares echo my own. One night while sailing under the cold stars, we share a reckless, tear-soaked kiss.

I’m doomed. Falling in love with Mark was one thing, but his bride too? Being in love with a husband and wife at the same time?

Torture. Misery. A tragedy if tragedies came with bruises, sweat, sighs.

But it isn’t enough to merely fall into the forbidden. Because in Mark Trevena’s world, the fall is only the beginning….

Full Stop!

Loved it! 5 ⭐️ 5🌶
Before you start this one, listen to Salt in the Wound. 3/4 of this book is MM. Salt in the wound is MF. I'm assuming book 3 is MFM!! 😍 Gave 4 on the story, per I was expecting to love it from the beginning. I fell in love at the end. 🩵

Exquisitely, painfully erotic…

First off, I am a Sierra Simone devotee. Her writing and the dynamics she carefully crafts between her characters are delicious and intricate. I read and re-read the New Camelot series and am loving this series so far centering on Mark, Tristan and Isolde. Mark is so brutal and skilled and sure, and i can’t wait to see what happens next. I enjoyed the story overall and am panting for June to roll around to see how the three of them come together and how outside events will coalesce.

I’ve heard this narrator before and overall really liked his reading of Tristan. Didn’t blow my socks off but a really enjoyable listen overall.

Hauntingly beautiful story of wounded love

This book has me all in knots. I am new to dark romance, specifically like MMF. This book has mainly MM in it and it works for me with no shame in liking it.
Tristan, our wounded soldier, is so complicated and I ache for his happiness. He tortures himself. I feel he thinks he is not worthy but oh man is he ever. The first part of his new life chapter in Mark Trevena's life really starts at chapter 15. I am giddy over it and don't want it to end and the after to end. But Mark's world is dark and he says he is not a nice man and he proves it by asking Tristan to escort his soon to be bride, Isolde, home. Tristan obeys and just tortures himself more because that is what he thinks he deserves.
The second part of Tristan's heartbreak starts at chapter 30 but specifically chapter 31. I adore it too and don't want it to end.
Tristan has now put himself in love with Mark and Isolde and his angst and heartbreak are just to much to bear.
The last minute cliffhanger is not what I was expecting and now I have to wait until June for Honey Cut. The cliffhanger is EPIC!
Sierra Simone has captured my heart and soul to her writings. So much angst in the ones I have listened to that the angst has passed over to me. It can be torture at times. But I won't stop diving into her library of material.

📖 This will be in my top favs of the year for sure. Sierra has absolutely killed it with her start to the Lyonesse series. Mark, Tristan, and Isolde are each unique and captivating characters that pulled me into their story and made me love them all. Mark, our dark king; Tristan, our white knight; and Isolde, our fair maiden… but add 7 layers of complexity, including lots of dark and taboo, and plenty of incredible kink and spice.
This is told in first person, single POV (Tristan). Tristan is recently out of the Army and goes to work for his new uncle-in-law, Mark, as his personal bodyguard. Tristan is everything moral and right in the world, but he still falls deeply for Mark even though he sees the darkness within him. So when Tristan finds out Mark is engaged to Isolde, and that he’s being sent to retrieve her from Ireland, his morality and jealousy strike hard. But then he meets Isolde and everything changes…
I am absolutely dying to get Mark’s POV! I need to know more about our dark king and the pain and love he’s hiding inside. I also neeeeeed to know how far his brilliant scheming goes. I absolutely cannot wait for Honey Cut!!

🎧 Oscar Reyes was absolutely perfect as Tristan! He was incredible in this audio. I would describe his voice as medium to high pitch for a male with a soft, breathy timbre. This fit so well with how I would imagine Tristan — and he adjusted his tone and inflection to portray Tristan’s emotions whether he was formal, shy, embarrassed, comfortable, etc. When voicing Mark he deepened his pitch and had a much more confident and authoritative tone which was perfect for Mark. He also did a great job voicing Isolde. I was just blown away by his entire performance — I was entranced!

Good story bad narrator

The story is good but I can not take the narrator. He is too mono tone and he reads like one long run on sentence.

Good lord almighty, that was superb

where do even begin...
first off, I did NOT realize the final book wasn't out yet, so yeah that's a total bummer, what a cliffhanger! secondly, the storyline is so out there and unique, I needed that freshness badly, it's always the same ol stories just different characters, not with this one though, third, read the novella first! the second half of the book with make no sense to you otherwise, it's sets the scene of you read the novella first. fourth, wow, that's some of the best BDSM M/M reading I've ever had, as the majority of BDSM kink I've read is M/F. the second half of the book is M/F.

It's just a d@#n good series, read it. but know... the final book doesn't get released until summer 2024.

narration: perfection. I like dual POV in my stories, but she's set this series up a certain way so the single POV is OK. anyway, enjoy!
