Publisher's summary

Spade. People know what to expect when they hear my last name.

Billionaire. Alphahole. The forever bachelor. Heir to Spade Hotels, one of the most luxurious brands in the world.

Want to know what they would never call me?

Boyfriend.

Until her.

With one glance at her in the club, I’m ready to claim her for the night.

Dark, flowing hair. A smile that causes my heart to pound. Eyes that pierce my soul. And a perfect body that makes every part of me pulse.

She’s addictive. Electrifying. Consuming.

I’ve never wanted anyone more.

Our eyes meet, but she looks right past me. She isn’t here for me. She’s here for the music.

For the first time in my life, a woman makes me work for it. Her indifference fuels the fire inside me.

The result? One night. No names. No introductions.

Just pleasure. The way I’ve always liked it.

But now, I find myself fantasizing about this gorgeous stranger, and I swear I can still feel the softness of her skin and taste her on my lips.

The minute I saw her, a switch flipped inside me. Now, how do I stop this raging…obsession?

When our paths cross again in the most unexpected way, I’m on a mission to make her mine. But what happens when she wants nothing to do with me?

Great story with great Narration

I was so excited when I heard we were getting a new series from Marni Mann and all I need to say is I wasn’t disappointed, The Playboy (The Spade Hotel #1) was everything I have come to expect from this very talented author and so much more. The narration team of Savannah Peachwood and Tor Thom did a wonderful job bringing Macon and Brooklyn to life. They were spot on with the banter and the chemistry and they were very easy to listen to. Macon Spade is out at a Bachelor party when he spots a beautiful woman dancing alone on a stage platform. What follows is a man on a mission as he is determined to get to know her but even he didn’t expect was to fall hook, line and sinker for Brooklyn, the woman determined to keep herself to herself. Brooklyn is strong and independent and the last thing she needs is to feel obligated to a man who is offering her a chance at her dream job. So what does the future hold for this couple, one click to find out. I loved everything about this book, I fell hard and fast for Macon and Brooklyn is the woman I want in my corner. I swooned, I sighed, I giggled as I found myself cheering this couple on. A perfect start to the new series and I’m now so excited for the next book, The Rebel. If you love witty, steamy billionaire romance look no further than Macon and Brooklyn’s wonderful journey.

Undercover Lover❤️🔥

I like how the script was flipped.🤪 How you can do easily get played. Love the Heat 🔥 There wasn't much Suspense or Drama But it is a good Story. Great Narration ✨
Enjoy 😊

Uhm…Well

While I’ve enjoyed Marni Mann’s books, the performance on this one still has me scratching my head. The storyline was pretty good, but the male narrator’s speech pattern still has me puzzled. The way that the end of his words were clipped was so distracting that it impeded my enjoyment of the story. I don’t think I’ve ever heard that before and couldn’t determine if it was just his speech pattern or mechanical. Suffice it to say that I didn’t enjoy it.

Unoriginal, Boring and the Male narrator made my skin crawl

I listen to a LOT of audiobooks, mostly new romance. I was coming off a high of listening to Butcher & Blackbird, which was sooo good, and this book was also recommended for me by Audible so I thought I’d give this author and book a try. This story was super formulaic, nothing original, no heart and it felt like the author just phoned it in, and I kept finding myself spacing out and really bored. I just wanted to get to the predictable and unrealistic end. It could’ve been me just coming out of a good book and this one not measuring up at all. The very worst part was the male narrator making the 27 year old hero sound like a super creepy 65 year old lech. It made me feel icky and it was not romantic to hear that voice diddle with the 22 year old heroine. Yuck. I’d pass on this one.

Fantastic Story!

I finished this book in one sitting. This was a fantastic start of a series by Marni Mann. It was nice to hear about characters from the other series. This book was what I was waiting for in the romance department. I can't wait to hear Cooper's story.

Meh

Not a fan of the narration, especially the male. the way he ends his sentences is off-putting. The story is just ok. Nothing super exciting about the storyline.

Entertaining

I was so excited when I heard that Marni Mann was releasing a new series and if The Playboy is anything to go by then she is off to a flying start.
This is Macon and Brooklyn’s story, and it was certainly spicy. From the moment he set wyes on Brooklyn, he wanted her and being a billionaire, he is used to getting what or who he wants.
The Player is a fast paced, well written story that will draw you in and keep you invested from the start. The journey was full of twists and turns but what a journey it was. I loved the growth that the characters went through whilst reading,
Could Brooklyn be the woman to convince Macon to give up his playboy ways?
The narration by Savannah Peachwood and Tor Thom brought all the passion of the relationship to life. Their voices are easy to listen to and I found myself drawn to their performances.
One click and find out.

Amazing beginning to the series. Loved Macon and Brooklyn

The Playboy is the first book in The Spade Hotel Series and what an amazing start to the series.
Marni does not disappoint with Macon and Brooklyn’s story. She’s brings the heat and the romance.
Macon works hard but plays harder. He’s so HAWT. His actions, his words and that mouth of his. Oh, lord. He’s a swoon-worthy dominant alpha, who gets his world rocked by Brooklyn. Just when he thinks his charming ways will do, she shows him he has to work for it. He completely does a 180 for her. He falls first, and is completely consumed by his attraction for her and I’m here for it. She’s the perfect match for him. She’s smart, sassy, she challenges him, and keeps him on his toes. She’s the male version of him to some extent but still are opposites. They have some walls to break down, some hurdles to get through and some secrets holding them back. They handled all those issues with a great level of maturity at the end. The story is full of banter, it’s fun, sexy, flirty, electrifying and has an all consuming chemistry. Loved getting the Dalton’s back in the story. Always great catching up with them. Loved these two! I can’t wait to read Cooper’s story next. The audio narration is dual POV by Savannah Peachwood and Tor Thom. They brought another dimension to the story with their characterizations. They kept me engaged, and I listened to the audiobook multiple times. It was such a good listen.
