Publisher's summary

Verbally abused by her mother for years, 18-year-old Ellie Johnson always believed she would never be loved or wanted by anyone. She focused all of her attention on her grades and getting into the University of Texas to start a new life away from her mother. The last thing Ellie expected was to fall in love with Gunner Mathews, a starting linebacker for the University of Texas football team and not to mention, her brother's best friend. Gunner only has two passions in life, football and his grandfather's ranch, until he falls for his best friend's little sister. He will stop at nothing to show Ellie how much he wants her, even if it means he has to move faster than she would like. Gunner knows they are meant to be together forever, but Ellie keeps denying her feelings out of fear of being hurt again. Every time he gets close to winning her love, something pushes her away again. Will Ellie ever be able to let go of the past and let him into her heart and will Gunner be patient enough to wait for her?

AMAZING BOOK horrible system to listen

The book was amazing and I know it'll one I reread, but the system in use to allow me to listen and read at the and time doesn't work. It keeps skipping to the end of the book when I'm in chapter 18. I've removed it and redownloaded it but it's still not working. I checked for updates and restarted my device.. nothing. Customer service also couldn't do anything.

Easy Read

Enjoyed the main characters, family and friends. No real drama or angst. Narrators did a good job.

Hmmmm

Good easy listen but alley was an annoying character in some parts of the book. Very predictable! In all her books. But keep reading them cause I love a good romantic story and Kelly Elliott delivers

Awesome.

Great story! The male actor had the best country voice! I can't wait to hear more from him

Really??

The story itself, has potential. However, thats as good as it gets for me I suppose. This book has SO MUCH foul language, repeated sentences, unnecessary drama, and embarrassing dialog I simply couldn't finish it. I really tried but only made it about half way through. It's a shame, this could have been so much better.

Don’t waste the credit

Juvenile story and repetitive phrasing and swearing. I’m a cusser, but author needs to find some different words instead of the same phrases over and over. Ugh!! . Buy a thesaurus for goodness sake. Performers voices are like nails on a chalkboard. I listened to two hours hoping the story would get better but no such luck. Wish I wouldn’t have gotten the next book in the series. Waste of money snd brain cells.

hmmm

The author needs to learn the art of editing. If it wasn't for the constantly repeated sentences, the book could have been a few hours shorter.

The female narrator was decent but the male narrator was annoying. I seriously thought about returning the book.

Wanted to finish this one, but...

I eagerly downloaded this book because the author set the story in my hometown. I did get a little thrill to hear the narrators pronounce the names of some of my favorite places. Despite this little joy, I cannot listen to this book any longer. I have attempted 4 hours, with nearly 10.5 hours remaining, and just cannot continue. Here are my reasons why I cannot go on....

1) Juvenile and foul language
Every third to sixth sentence contains the F* word.

2) Repetitive phrasing -- I do not enjoy listening to the same words repeated over and over.

3) Juvenile story
I keep telling myself to go easy here, as the main characters are 18 and 23 years old.

4) Indecisive heroine -- is she or is she not worthy of the hero?
Maybe this plays out in the end, but I cannot imagine what more is going to happen over 10 more hours.

5) I do not like the female narrator's voice and tone.
For a character who is repeatedly described as "innocent", this narrator unfortunately sounds scornful, snide, and abrasive.

6) The male narrator is the only redeeming part of this story, and the only reason I give the performance two stars instead of one.

I am disappointed as I looked forward to discovering a new series by a new author. I may try a different book or separate series of this author another time.

Never heard so much unnecessary profanity in one book.

Felt like I was listening to a love story for low life's. Otherwise it could have been a hot and touching love story.
