SWEET & ROMANTIC UNTIL DANGER FROM THE PAST KNOCKS

I'm not a fan of the 'instant' in a romance book and, as the mixed up and still grieving Allison accidentally meets a handsome, kind, thoughtful and caring Damien it's instant attraction, followed closely by lust, sex and love which was all very touching and cute. But as the story develops so too does the mystery, suspense, intrigue and danger. Damien is haunted by an unresolved tragic event in his past which makes him cold, emotionless and snappy to others but with Allison it comes out as possessive and an over-the-top caring for her happiness and welfare and later we're given the heartbreaking reason why he's so protective over her.

At first the Heroine comes across as a little too young, sickly sweet and naive however the unfolding psychological drama (together with a six-pack wielding, handsome, rich, Alpha Hero) makes up for it. A mixed bag of secondary characters and somewhere in amongst them is a delusional murderer, the sex scenes were romantic, there was a lot of character and plot development and the love story was sometimes challenged but remained sweet.

However, although the romance didn't have a cliffhanger.... the Epilogue certainly did which suggests things aren't going to be the HEA for the H/H after all. Narration was ok but, IMHO, Allison's voice sounded a bit too young.

Worth a credit? It was a lukewarm listen to begin with but the romance, plot twists, questions and action soon kicked in so YES creditworthy and I need to know just who the villain in the story is so I guess I'll be using another credit to find out.

DNF

This book sucks. Its a horrible version of FSOG. He was crazy, and she was silly. I could not finish it because it was too stupid.

Boring, story has been done too many times.

This story has been done in so many ways over the past few years. I'm tired of the same old same old, overly wealthy man that has a bad history, young girl that is in experienced and naive. Gag.....

Great series!

This is actually a re-read for me! It was that good :) This series has the perfect amount of heat, mystery and suspense. It leaves you on the edge of your seat just wondering "Who dun-it" ? It was a awesome ride! Great narration, great characters, amazing plot!

Such an amazing love story!

Amazing things can happen when you decide to find yourself. In this case, Allison found the love of her life and it makes you want to believe in love at first sight. Their relationship is put through the ringer at every turn and they always come out on the other side stronger. It ends on a HUGE cliffhanger and I couldn't be happier that the entire series is out so I can continue on and find out who the mystery person is!

I listened to the audio version and it was all encompassing. Shirl Rae did an outstanding job. I couldn't tear myself away. Her voice is hypnotic and all I wanted to do was listen all day long!

Not my favorite

I really struggled with this book. Alli was a whiney, juvenile brat. one moment she's closed off and the next she's in love? She's very needy for a closed off person. Her thoughts were childish and their conversations went from juvenile to controlling. Not my favorite book. The narration was awful. She was so whiney!

Alpha douche w control issues

The male MC made me very uncomfortable with red flag after red flag. Controlling, possessive, lies, and gaslights the heroine. DNF she was too needy and believes/gives in to him way to easy after lines were crossed. All the talk of being “claimed” added the finishing touches of this alpha douche

Holy bad writing Batman!

I have probably never read a book that needed more editing. From incorrect sentence structure to flagrant misusage of words, this book had it all! I did finish it, but it was a near thing.
The hero is the normal tormented guy who just needs someone to be a human with him. Their bond is cute, if not particularly interesting.
The conflict is the best part about this book. Actual danger and an actual escalation, well done.
The part that rang the most untrue was the relationship between best friend and our main character. Girls don't just giggle and dance together when they hang out. Really disappointing to see this messed up so badly.
Main character was actually pretty ok. Reasonable reactions, good character development, not a one note person.
I would, by no means, recommend this book.

Silly Love Story

I know this story received a lot of 4-5 stars but sometimes love stories are just plain silly and unbelievable. From the beginning he was overbearing, possessive and protective before even know got to know her. Red flag ! She was a virgin (of course ) but she was ready to give it after spending one day with this handsome nut case. Oh ! and If heard her say I need time to process one more time I was going to scream. She should have process her actions of going to a house with a strange man on the first date... lol...I'm sure a lot of people love the story but for me I just found it so silly. After chapter 15 I couldn't take it anymore and went to the last 3 chapters and was not disappointed it was still silly and made me nauseous. I do not intend to read book 2 ever . However I think I will read book 3 Sam's Love story because I liked Sam's character she was awesome the best part of the whole silly story.

meh

a lot of time jumping. I found myself saying "well, that kind of person would never do that, but okay....." Book didn't really keep my interest.
Also this book isn't the complete story. It's to be continued in the next book.
