Publisher's summary

While Navy SEAL Rafe Buchanan is stuck at the airport, he is captivated by the woman cursing a blue streak with a take no prisoners attitude. He invites her for drinks and realizes she's everything he gave up hoping he'd find. But a random glance at a TV monitor ends their flirting when Meghan Henley sees her brother's missionary group was kidnapped in Afghanistan.

Meghan turns to Rafe as her world is flipped upside down. How could one man already mean so much to her? And Rafe is determined to help the woman who has stolen his heart. Realizing the deadly situation, he calls John "Tex" Keegan to help.

When Rafe is called away on a mission, Meghan asks Tex's help to stage her own rescue of her brother. But things go sideways when she is taken hostage. Will Rafe, Tex, and the rest of the Black Eagle SEAL team be able to get to the hostages before the Taliban carry out their threats? Or will he be haunted forever knowing he lost his dream?

As far as books to listen to goes

I was happy enough with this book it didn’t have the depth of emotion like some but it wasn’t lacking in a complete storyline I could have had more of the main couple but overall wasn’t mad I listened

a single untrained small reporter, who thinks she can take on the Taliban. Alone, causing danger for others!!!, yet she is labeled "Brave"- ?????

Ridiculous

It’s like someone sat down and said “I’m going to write the most ridiculous and unbelievable story anyone has ever heard” and created this book

not enough character development

I listened to this book because of it's tie in to Susan Stoker's books. Unfortunately, while the plot idea and narrator performance were great, there was minimal character development and relationship build up.

Unbelievable- literally- Nonsense

Nobody that's been in any way affiliated with the military in any way (cook or commander) can avoid choking at this nonsense. Truly it is a ROMANCE novel, but this isn't happening. Seals are probably cracking up. It's all just nonsense. Don't bother to finish. It just gets worse and mor ridiculous.

I guess I should have had lower expectations?

This was a sort of ridiculous story. It felt really forced and like the entire thing was being rushed. Without giving too much away if you like sort of zone out lame romances over the backdrop of military stuff you may like this. I finished it just to make sure I wasn't giving it a bad review before being done but waste of my time.

Ridiculous

I kept telling myself, it will get more believable. But from almost the beginning, things even more ridiculous kept happening. 1) Tex, a character from other stories/authors, would NEVER agree to help in this capacity. 2) How absolutely naive and stupid would someone have to be, to go to a war zone? Megan has ZERO real world experience, and literally writes Obits — nothing remotely related to foreign relations. 3) Megan’s character was extremely hard to relate to as she kept making stupid decisions. 4) When being held captive, she basically gave up the first instant the terrorists separated her, which is against her character that the author had been building from the start.

All of this aside, it wasn’t a terrible story. I was beyond frustrated, repeating to myself “This is RIDICULOUS” or “This is unbelievable” — I found it really hard to get past the complete lack of believability of this story. I did like Rafe’s character, though.
