He was born to a clan of warriors of supernatural strength, but Gavrael McIllioch abandoned his name and his Highland castle, determined to escape the dark fate of his ancestors. Hiding his identity from the relentless rival clan that hunted him, he called himself Grimm to protect the people he cared for, vowing never to acknowledge his love for ravishing Jillian St. Clair.
Yet even from afar he watched over her, and when her father sent an urgent summons, "Come for Jillian," he raced to her side - into a competition to win her hand in marriage.
A warrior's steely heart....
Why had he run from her so many years before? And why return now to see her offered as a prize in her father's manipulative game? Furious, Jillian vowed never to wed. But Grimm was the man she loved, the one who urged her to marry another. He tried to pretend indifference as she tempted him, but he could not deny the fierce desires that compelled him to abduct her from the altar. She was the only woman who could tame the beast that raged within him - even as deadly enemies plotted to destroy them both.
Great Scot! Don't miss our other titles in the Highlander series.

"Highly original...sensual, hard-to-put-down romance. Karen Marie Moning is destined to make her mark on the genre." (Romantic Times)
"A hauntingly beautiful love story....Karen Marie Moning gives us an emotional masterpiece that you will want to take out and read again and again." (Rendezvous)
Book #1 doesn't hold a candle to Book #2 - I truly thought the book was fabulous - and I'm glad to see they got rid of the "tinny" spirit voices! Will be starting Book #3 - can't wait! It's the book you want to be TOTALLY alone with!!!
Laughed and a few other things...
I've listened to the whole series.
He does a fantastic job of performing all the different roles. He has a great voice.
Laugh. It was great.
Worth every penny!
I really liked Adriana's housekeeper and wonder what happened to her. She was definitely a side character, but a very loyal friend of Adriana's as well.
Oh, yes. I really love Phil Gigante's narrations in these books, as well as the ones with Mack in them. He also narrates some of the Carpathian novels by Christine Feehan. I was not disappointed.
I have already downloaded the next book in the series. It will be fun to learn more about Grim.
I wish I had started reading Ms. Moning's Highland series first but I started with her Fae series and then came back to this one, and am I glad I did.
Picture the smooth Scottish brogue of Sean Connery, add some magic, and then a time travelling hero/heroine. Picture being read to by Sean Connery, if that doesn't spike your heart, and make it race, then you must be on your last legs.
Phil Gigante SHINES as the narrator and has that same smooth as a glass of good Scotch
whiskey voice that just makes you want to listen forever.
I hope that Ms Moning is dreaming up some more Highland Warriors and a few more Fae for a new series!!! I'll listen for sure.
This is one of the best of the series. Steamy scenes and good story. No whiney/helpless/stupid lead female character.
this was so much fun to have on my eye pod while doing things around the house start with the first they build on one another although each one is good on its own have a fun read
This is the second Moning book I've tried and I've decided her stories just aren't for me.
The characters take forever to make a decision -- one you KNOW their going to make. The back story seems to be late in adding to the mix -- and that's the only fun part of the book.
The narrator's female voices had the same affect as fingernails on a blackboard. They were all high pitched, whiney, shrill, near hysterical and well, just annoying.
I love stories about Highlanders but not the Moning /Gigante style.
My reviews are my personal feelings-just the need to rant or ooze after listening & to remind me what I felt if I want to listen again.
Narration - Phil Gigante - pretty good
Phil does a good job, just doesn't do females that well. He's a guy trying to do a girls voice - a little too falsetto.
I enjoyed the book. It's kind of light hearted with a little danger and angst thrown in.
First, I think there should have been a real love story between them prior, not her loving him and him being mean to her all those years. I was thinking it would have been much hotter had they had a better history. Second, the ending was terrible! So cheesy! I was so bummed by the ending, all the lead up and to end like it did was a huge disappointment!
I was bugged by the storyline... They have a history of her loving him and him being mean to her, with one kiss between them.... it wasn't enough to make such an intense love story. I think they should have had a great love before, then he should have left leaving her terribly heart broken from having given her whole heart to someone who had promised her his. I can see how she would be so angered by him and have so much passion about him had they had a better history. However, I think the way it was written left me thinking something wasn't being said, I couldn't figure out why she was so angry with him. Plus...the ending! You go through this journey with her and him and then BAM....So lame! Had it been an actual book and not my kindle I would have thrown it across the room! SO ANNOYED!
A sexy man voice, his girl voice isn't the best.
It wasn't the characters, it was the storyline that I didn't like.
It has some heat and sizzle, but didn't knock my socks off.
The first book reviewer of the series doesn't get it. Mixing 20th century words and metaphors are normal for these books. it makes me laugh..Just go with the flow. They are fun and sexy. While I work at home on my computer, I get lost in the romance of the period . All male narrators do female voices or female narrators do male voices. it works fine.I think Phil Gigante’s voice is sensual. 5 stars for me!
nope..he is fantastic
