    "Pleasantly Surprised!"

I didn't know what to expect with this author but I was pleasantly surprised by this story. This isn't your average Highlander adventure......its refreshing, honest, and unpredictable. The love between Caitlyn and Connor happens gradually and isn't forced. The story seemed more "normal" (even with the time travel theme) than others in the same genre. This book is more of a fantasy type romance rather than historical which is fine with me because I enjoy both.

The narrator did a good job. Her men's voices tend to be a little whiny but I got used to it and after a while I didn't notice much.

If you enjoy fantasy/time travel romances I think you will enjoy this book. I am looking forward to other books in this series.

"CHARMING FEEL-GOOD PNR AS TRUE LOVE WINS THE DAY"

I had not heard of this author before but anything with the word 'Highlander' in it and it's got my immediate attention - then couple it with time travel and a doomed love and I'm hitting the 'Add To Cart' button before I know it.

First you have Caitly (Cate) whose fiancée has been 'caught in the act' by her and she's feeling vulnerable but adventurous which is lucky because Conner reaches out through time to her and makes her a strange but tempting offer begging her for help and she finds she just can't refuse him (sensible girl). Conner, a sexy, handsome Highland hunk from the year 1272 (who's a positively drool-worthy temptation - especially in his kilt), is on a quest to save his sister and so duty dictates that he must find a bride but his reach spans hundreds of years into the future until, with the help of Fae magic, he finds Cate.

There was great chemistry between the two likeable H/H who have emotional baggage to overcome as both have been betrayed by love in the past so trust must be earned before love can blossom. Smooth flowing entertaining plot, likeable characters with good secondary ones too and the usual evil Laird whose plans don't include Cate and he tries everything to stop the marriage. It was romantic, tender, there was sexual tension, danger, fun, it had a mythical Legend and the magical Fae finally had to step in to help fate, and the lovers, along and it'll have you saying "Oh no no no" and "Ahh yes yes yes" over and over again.

Worth a credit? Yes, it was a very enjoyable listen and a good start to an 8 (so far) book series which I'd be happy to use my credits on, however I do feel that this may be compared to K.M.Moning's Highlander series and unfortunately, for me, it doesn't quite have the same depth - but it's a good second best.

Would you try another book from Melissa Mayhue and/or Elizabeth Wiley?

I love Melissa Mayhue's stories. I adored this book. But I'm sorry, Elizabeth Wiley was just not the voice to use. She has a nice voice, but her attempts at an accent and a male voice at that was distracting. (Sorry Ms Wiley)

Would you be willing to try another one of Elizabeth Wiley’s performances?

Perhaps. If she's not attempting a male voice or an accent.

    "Had more potential!!!"

This story had the potential to be amazing. I love time travel books and always look for them, so I was so excited when I found this. I just had a hard time getting involved with the heroine. She accepted her situation a little too gracefully for it to be realistic at all! She had no depth to her character and was very annoying. It could have been the narrator, but I wont be listening to the next in the series. I do have to mention that the fairy backround story is a great idea though, I just would have gone a different direction with the story.

"I had fun with this one"

I had no expectations when I selected this book except that it would be fun and silly. I love time travel stories because I'm a kid at heart. And it did prove to be fun and silly, so that's my story and I'm sticking to it. It helped me pass the time while waiting for the results of my biopsy.

"Time travel stories are nearly always fun."

I appreciate when the author of a time travel book makes an effort to explain how the time travel happens and sets at least some rules for the traveler and the catalyst.
Ms. Mayhue does that in this story. Okay, so there are no interesting scientific explanations for the occurrence, just fairy magic, but at least she laid some ground rules and followed them.

This is light, fun reading. Highlanders, kilts, time travel, clan strife, a Scottish king; all the standard post Outlander fare. There is one twist, however, that I liked: the intermingling of the heroine's present-day family with the yesteryear characters. Don't want to ruin the story for you by further detail.

    Good narrator.

I recommend for lovers of time travel romance.

    "Too little, too late"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

If the author would have wrote the first two thirds of the story like the last third. The main characters didn't communicate for most of the book. Also a better narrator, her Scots accent was off.

Has Thirty Nights with a Highland Husband turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, will listen to one of the Highlander series written by Karen Marie Moning. I know I won't be disappointed, and the narrator, Phil Gigante, is great too.

How could the performance have been better?

Improve accent and not sound like a spoiled teenager.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Dissatisfied

    "Wonderful.."
What did you love best about Thirty Nights with a Highland Husband?

    Everything Melissa writes I love!!

What other book might you compare Thirty Nights with a Highland Husband to and why?

    Any other Mayhue book.

Which character – as performed by Elizabeth Wiley – was your favorite?

    Cate.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    Both

    Any additional comments?

I first bought this book in September 2011 and even though I loved it I never reviewed it..Just to lazy, I guess. So, I decided to read it again and review it this time. Matter of fact, I've read all Ms. Mayhue's book, one right after the other and never reviewed any of them but I intend to read them all again and take care of that. That's how much I love the book.
I love the magic in them and I loved Connor and Cate. Loved Rosalyn and just didn't like Richard at all. He had some really strange ideas.
This book had some mild sex and I liked that. I don't read books without sex (they're just to boring for me.) I would recommend this book to all time travel fans.
