The classic tale of passion on the high seas, available for the first time in 20 years...

Merry Wilding is a lady of breeding, of innocence, and of breathtaking beauty. With high hopes for a holiday in England, she sets sail from New York - but the tide of her life is destined to turn. Mistakenly swept aboard an infamous pirate ship, Merry finds herself at the mercy of a wicked crew...and one sinfully handsome pirate. Soon she's spending her days yearning for escape, and her nights learning the pleasures of captivity.

Devon Crandall believes Merry is in league with his greatest enemy. He's determined to slowly urge her secrets from her. But along the way, he discovers her beautifully unbreakable spirit...and a desire unlike any he's ever known. She is hiding something from him, and yet, each day that passes brings her deeper into his heart. When fierce arguments give way to fiercer passion, can a pirate learn to love a woman? Or will true love be lost at sea?

Quirky Pirate Adventure Romance ⚓💕

This book was written in the 1980's and has become a romance classic. I've read this in the past and I think it's even better with narration.

This book delivered it all for me. It is a silly and fun Pirate adventure with many story and character twists along the way. This is one of those books where ALL the characters are written so well that they feel multi-dimensional and each personality ranges from innocent, quirky, silly, mischievous and mysterious. The story takes us on a journey of the classic "damsel in distress" meets "mysterious, misfit pirates". It is a voyage that old fashioned romance lovers will enjoy. Yes, it's long, but with all its quirky adventure and charm it's definitely worth the time and credit. 😃

The narrator did an excellent job with many character's voices. Her accents and delivery were spot on. Bravo! 💕

This is a must listen for anyone who enjoys a good swashbuckling pirate romance escape with plenty of romantic banter. ⚓

1980's knew how to write a "CLASSIC" !!

What did you love best about The Windflower?

Not your classic bodice ripper/soft porn. This is a well written book with well defined characters and plot. It really makes sense. Young girl out of her element, pirates, shipped to England during a war! Flashes from her mother's past. What not to love?

What did you like best about this story?

No sequel!!!! I so wanted to hear more about Cat and Carl, Raven and Morgan, too.

What does Christa Lewis bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

At first I did not care for her performance. But by the end of about the 2nd page I had changed my opinion....she was really into it. You could tell the different voices of characters.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

No film, please!!! They spoil the greatness of the book! And who would you get for the actors? They always age them incorrectly and go for current fashion and not quality.

Any additional comments?

Thank you !!! Very, very glad they brought this book to audio. This will give me many hours of pleasure while gaming, crafting and quilting. I've loved this book since first published in the mid 80's. One of my 3 most favorite books. The Windflower, The Black Lion and Bride of the MacHugh.

Great listen; didn't even notice it was so long!

"Windflower" was an engrossing listen. It is a WHOPPING 18 hours long, but the narrator moves it along at a good pace, and keeps the energy level appropriate to the story. Although the book gets quite wordy in spots, the story is well-written and my favorite part about it is that the authors incorporate humor into many of the situations. The change of scenery throughout the book (from an estate in America, to taverns, to pirate ships, to remote islands, to the English countryside) kept the plot engaging. Each character is very well-developed, and toward the end of the book, many questions the listener may have about some of the main characters are explained cleverly and eloquently.
There were a myriad of characters with wide variances in personalities and each was voiced competently by the narrator, who was consistent in her accents and cadences. She differentiated between each character very well, and voiced the many male characters with surprising agility, which can be challenging for a female narrator. The narrator has a sultry voice, which lends itself well to the suspenseful scenes, and the romance scenes as well.
I would highly recommend this audiobook to anyone who enjoys a good romance with adventure and humor woven in. I rate the narration an A+ and the story an A.

I received a free download of this book as a gift, no strings attached.

My new favorite

I enjoyed this book so much, it is well written and the narrator does an excellent job. All I can say is Wow! I laughed so hard until I had tears at times. Wonderful and interesting story I was so sad when it ended. I came to love the characters in this book and wish there was a sequel, I would be reading it now.

The Most Romantic and Hilarious Book Ever

Narrator is fantastic! The story, while it starts a little slow, speeds up with all kinds of moving pieces. it's absolutely hilarious in a situational, unintentional way. Also has the most romantic grand gesture ever known the world.

Spurst of action amidst vast boredom

Way too long - story could have been told more interestedly in half the time. It goes on and on. I did not like the female lead, Merry. She is spoiled, childish, hard to get along with, aggravating and a trouble maker. The male lead Devlin is more likable. He has a more complex personality. Other characters, such as Morgan and Cat, the pirates are interesting, but story and the relationships are confusing.

Merry's constant bickering with Devlin and her ridiculous need to protect her virtue, even when no longer necessary is stupid and annoying. There is simply no heat created between Devlin and Merry - I only knew they were hot for one another because the book said they were. I did not feel it al all. The narrator was so slow I had to listen at 1.25 speed. It was torture enough to be listening to a slow book without being subjected to a slow reader.

This book, in my opinion, is overhyped and I did not enjoy it. Rather I endured it to th end, and am now returning it.

waste of my credit ughhh

I've been looking for a pirate romance novel and settled on this one after reading a few reviews. I'm not sure if it was the narrator or the actual writing and characters but I found this book to be a terrible waste of time. The heroine was portrayed as a spineless ninny while the hero had a drawl that reminded me of a leering sleazebag. The plot was unexciting and their romance screamed stockholm syndrome. Perhaps I'm being too harsh, but I've never had to force myself to finish an audible before and took literal pains to not let this credit go to waste. My all time favorite pirate romance novel remains "The Gift".
