Publisher's summary

From the Isle of Skye to the battlefields of France, Duncan MacDonald has never escaped the memory of the true love he left behind. Deemed unworthy of a chieftain's daughter, Duncan abandoned the lovely Moira to prove his worth in battle. Now, when called upon to rescue her from a rival clan, one thing is certain: Moira's pull on his heart is stronger than ever. Bartered away in marriage to a violent man, Moira will do anything to ensure she and her son survive.

When a rugged warrior arrives to save her, the desperate beauty thinks her prayers have been answered - until she realizes it's Duncan. The man who once broke her heart is now her only hope. Moira vows never again to give herself - or reveal her secrets - to the fierce warrior, but as they race across the sea, danger and desire draw them ever closer.

Warrior

Perfect romance. It is well worth the credit. It's got action, adventure, bravery, chivalry, strong female character, worthy hero.

well written

this is the 3rd in the series and while good, I have liked the first two better. having said that., Duncan and Moira story has more sadness, loss and misunderstanding than the first 2 which makes it feel more serious. it is still worth a listen.

Second Chance Historical Romance

I love second chance romance novels and this was no different.
Take 2 lovers from the opposite side of the proverbial track. A well meaning father who thinks his daughter marrying into status equals her being happy. A misunderstanding between lovers and you have a great story

The Warrior

Another great story. At times I felt sorry for Duncan, I thought she was pretty hard on him. Loved the faithful Irish wolf hound dog 🐕

Duncan's story

I was so please to be able to listen to the audio version of The Warrior. Duncan has always been one of my favorite characters as Ms. Mallory weaves severall of her stronger, more demanding, personalities throughout the series. If I'm not mistaken, each main character seems to demand and deserve a chance to allow us into their own personal adventure, which of course is a very colorful and intriguing love story. Derek Perkins once again leaves me spellbound with his phenomenal narration with the audio book version. I do wish that whomever chooses the covers for audio books especially, would pay closer attention to the detained description of the main character is they plan to have him on the cover. The audio cover for this book has a beautiful man on the front cover, however, that is how I pictured him throughout the story, not as a redhead or an auburn haired man. This is not the fault of the author or narrator, but can be very disconcerting to us visual learners/readers. For The Sinner, the book cover was much more appropriate while the audible cover was not, though the audible cover was ok, it just didn't really appeal to me or match the Viking blonde character. Great books however in this series by Margaret Mallory and narrated by Derek Perkins. This is a series you will not want to miss. I'd recommend it to any of my friends.

Endearing Love!

I really love this book! Margaret Mallory has out done herself with this story. Adventure, fast paced action, sizzling passion and tender love set in the wild, beautiful Scottish Highlands and Ireland. Derek Perkins gives so much vivid life to the characters that you feel like you are right there with them. I very, very highly recommend this book.

Enjoyable, but follows the formula a bit too long.

I enjoy Highlander books that are read by men. Can't stand male voices that sound like women. I no longer even buy Highlander books (or SEAL books or any that involve a group of men, think BDB) read by women. Derek Perkins does a good job of differentiating between male and female voices and he does a great accent, though I'm no expert there. Sounds good to me.

The story itself was void of surprises, but still enjoyable. Misunderstandings between the H and the h are common in this genre, but I think this one went on for too long. Toward the end, I was ready to smack them both upside the head! I enjoyed the little boy and really loved the dog!

I should add, I read this book without realizing it was part of a series, but it was not really necessary. It works well as a stand-alone. I'm usually very careful not to do that, but I must have got this one on sale. Turns out I also had another one and have now bought the other two so I obviously liked the book and the narrator. So on to Book 1, The Guardian!
