A good story ruined by poor narration.

I own almost every paperback written by Mary Balogh and she remains one of my favorite authors. I look forward to owning every one of them in audible form, but I hated this one. The narration once again ruined a perfectly good book for me. She was "sounding" like she wanted to be so dramatic and it missed the target so much I tried slowing it down and speeding it up. Nothing helped! I'm seeing other books be re-recorded and I'm hoping this will be one. Please give this book to Rosalyn Landor or Anne Flosnik so we get a bearable listen.

Well written & Enchanting

I truly enjoyed the storyline and the author’s writing style. Not pretentious or over written. Comfortable and enchanting.

One of Her Most Romantic

I discovered Mary Balogh back in the late 80s or early 90s. I read every one of her books with one exception so I do have a good basis for my opinion. This has to be if not the most romantic book she's written, it's at least , no I think it is the most romantic. I have it in the Ebook and in Audible.i enjoyed the Audible version best.

Amazing narrator Rebecca

Soo well written story. So much feeling I really love this series
This is the only book narratived by Rebecca in this series and that’s sad because she is an amazing reader!! Soo slow and languid.

Excellent!

Excellent narrator and story. The Proposal is my most favorite book of all by Mary Balogh. The characters and details made it feel as though you’re right there inside the book with them. 5 ⭐️s

Fabulous

I absolutely love this and think it's one of Mary Balogh's best.

Honestly I wasn't expecting much since the publishing date is so far from the Bedwyn Saga, but apparently Mary Balogh is one of those writers who gets better as she goes along. I thought the writing of this was just spectacular. Crisp and sharp and focused, with little of the padding and repetition that sometimes mars her writing. I really enjoyed it.

The characters, especially Hugo, are wonderful! Real and three dimensional and deep. He really touched my soul. I just loved him. Every scene with Hugo is a delight. He is a dark, tormented hero, with a little bit of Lady Chatterley's Lover about him. I thought Gwen a bit less defined, at first, but she gains in depth as the story progresses.

It was so interesting to find themes of madness--bipolar disorder and PTSD among others--in a Romance book. They were done very very well.

I've come across a few clunkers by Mary Balogh recently but this has renewed my faith. Her good ones are so good. Now I have the rest of the series to look forward to!

This whole series is amazing

I am surprised each time I look for a book I am excited to find there is more to this story then I expected. The entire story starts with Then the bedwyn seies. Then the simply quartet. Then the final ones are the survival seies. They are all linked to each order! I suggest trying them in order to get the feel of each characters tell their own story. I recommend all of them and ms. Landor is such a great narrator.
