Not my favourite romantic theme but....
Married by proxy, he doesn’t want her but she doesn’t want to leave so it inevitably battle of sexes commenced.
I almost gave up on this book as I really liked the heroine and she was treated appallingly but things improved towards the end and she had her Happy End .....eventually.

Overall, the narrator ruined it for me
The incessant smacking and swallowing noises were gross. Also, the tone of the story made it impossible for me to listen to the male lead and feel any of the romance the author intended. I love the story, it would have been 100% more enjoyable with a reader who actually felt the romance.

Intrigue with a bit of history. Well done.
I was already a fan of Cathy Maxwell, but this book was her best. Kept my interest to the end. Loved the last part of the epilogue that provided the final chapter of the Scottish history that was the premise of the book. My first time listening to this narrator. Virginia Leishman was excellent!

GREAT
If you could sum up The Marriage Contract in three words, what would they be?
I really enjoyed this book. I didn't want it to end was to short...lol...Had a great story line and humor mixed with romance. Good narrator enjoyed the voice.

It never ends
The ending draws on much too long. The epilogue feels … out of place! The story was fine in many ways, but the ending! Feels like it will never end.
