Publisher's summary

Lady Eleanor Ramsay is the only one who knows the truth about Hart Mackenzie. Once his fiancée, she is the sole woman to whom he could ever pour out his heart. Hart has it all - a dukedom, wealth, power, influence, whatever he desires. Every woman wants him - his seductive skills are legendary. But Hart has sacrificed much to keep his brothers safe, first from their brutal father, and then from the world. He's also suffered loss: his wife, his infant son, and the woman he loved with all his heart, though he realized it too late.

Now Eleanor has reappeared on Hart's doorstep, with scandalous nude photographs of Hart taken long ago. Intrigued by the challenge in her blue eyes - and aroused by her charming, no-nonsense determination - Hart wonders if his young love has come to ruin him ... or save him.

FIVE STARS - FOUR WORDS - I NEED MORE PLEASE !!!

For those of us JA fans who have listened to this entire series so far then I am sure they will agree that each of these books have just been wonderful and a joy to listen to.

If you're a historical romance lover then they just don't get better than this addictive listen about Hart - he has it all - a Dukedom (lovely), wealth (comes in handy), good looks (especially when he's in his kilt), women falling at his feet (well who wouldn't), a high job in Parliament (mmm not so sexy) but the one thing he hasn't got but desperately wants is Lady Eleanor his ex fiancee. He is a deeply tormented soul full of regrets and unfulfilled dreams so can she love him again and save him from himself (everyone say "ahhh").

There's well thought out characters both from previous books and new ones whose input into the story gives it depth, passion, intrigue, humour, sex and it's also touching, tender and sensual as well. You really feel like you know what makes the two lovers tick and what drove them to make the decisions they made in the past.

I hope Audible will give us book 5 The Seduction of Elliot McBride (out now) and 6 The Wicked Deeds of Daniel MacKenzie (sometime in Oct 13) because her fans want this series to continue for generations to come.

Worth a credit? Do you really think I'm going to say Naah after that review - it's a MUST HAVE LISTEN and definitely a re-listen series ..... so that would be a YES. QUI, SI, AYE, SIM, DA, SHI ..... well you get the message.

Love Book Four!

I just loved all the books in this series. This is a lovely romance about Hart and Eleanor. I couldn't wait to listen to this book because I wanted to know more about Hart as he had so much responsibility in the family. This book (and series) was so well written. It kept my interest and had grown to really care about these people. I wish there was another book in this series!

Perfect ending...

This book is just as good as the previous ones. The ending was very good and complete as it gives you a glimpse of how each brother and their families are doing. Hart was completely redeemed in this book. He changed a lot from how he was portrayed throughout the series. Eleanor was his perfect match in every sense. The bit of BDSM between Hart and Eleanor towards the end of the book was kind of weird but I guess it was appropriate to explain his "dark" side. It's nothing too descriptive though.

Narration: well by now Ms. Angela Dawe has improved her Scottish accent a bit and her narration has only gotten better. I highly recommend this book and I'm sad the series has ended.

Excellent Series

I loved this book as much as the others. The narrator is great & the story was perfect. I really enjoyed this entire series and hated to see it end. Too bad there was not another brother to write about. Maybe Daniel the son of Cameron would make a good addition to the series.

Not up to par!

What was most disappointing about Jennifer Ashley’s story?

The whole plot...the fact that she goes back to him after 8yrs?! The fact that the reason why they parted in the first place was because of his mistress.. and then he leaves the mistress because of this..then he goes off and marries someone else and have a baby with that person and when the wife dies rather than try to mend fences with the his love interest he goes back to the mistress who caused their breakup in the first place?! That he still cared for the mistress despite the fact that said mistress was willing to have his brother IAN blamed for a crime he didn't commit and that said mistress almost killed IAN's wife? Then after all this happened, that's when Eleanor comes back into his life even though he was at fault in the first place..she pretends it's to help him out with this issue with the photos and yet it just seems like she meekly accepts all his proclivities and his depravities and his past women...where is her pride? If that was the case and she's ok with all his stupid crap, why bother breaking off the engagement in the first place? why is it ok now and not then? If he's suppose to love her why go back to the mistress and not her? Why marry someone else after the breakup? Couldn't he change his ways when they broke up and persuade her to take him back rather than get married to someone else for political reasons? I don't really buy that the wife dies while trying to birth their baby, that's too convenient an excuse for the author to get rid of the wife, Oh and killing off the mistress too, in book one..so that all obstacles are out of the way so that further down the road she could write (Harte and Eleanor) back together again. I know it's just a story but still it doesn't compute into a love story really, because without the love scenes, there really is no substance to either of them, because of their actions before and after their breakup, the chemistry isn't really there, otherwise why does he need to go to other women and take 8 yrs before they get back together again? Really? What's she doing during those years, pining away for him? waiting for him to come back to her? Yeah right..in the end she's the one that went to him....no chemistry, no real love,.because in spite of him thinking he couldn't live without her or that he really loves her, he married someone else and still go off to his mistress or other women so where was the love for her in his actions?

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I like the fact that the brothers care for each other and that they look out for one another especially IAN, with his special needs and their patience with him.

The Duke's Perfect

Would you listen to The Duke's Perfect Wife again? Why?

I have read this whole series more than one, so I am pretty confident I will listen again. This series has a beautiful balance of characterization, story line, mystery and romance, which is hard to find in most books. The MacKenzie brother's have damaged souls but, have found away of surviving their horrific upbringing to become much better men ( with the help of their wives, of course)

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Duke's Perfect Wife?

2 come to mind, without giving much away. The first one was Elle, taking pictures of Hart, and Hart being almost shy about it. Second, when Elle finds Hart in the MacKenzie mausoleum.

Which character – as performed by Angela Dawe – was your favorite?

Really love Cameron and Daniel, they are hilarious

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The Duke's (not so) Perfect Life

Any additional comments?

I thought it the end of the series, but it looks like there might be a book for Daniel.. Can't wait.

Adore this family

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes I would as the story itself is one I really enjoyed and the narrator does an outstanding job bringing it to life

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Duke's Perfect Wife?

When Hart realized he didn't want to be Prime Minister and wanted to be with his wife more

Which character – as performed by Angela Dawe – was your favorite?

Eleanor

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Ian never gave up on finding Hart. I loved the connection between the two brothers

Any additional comments?

I adore this family and have been reading the way through this series and patiently waiting till I got to Hart's book hoping it won't not disappoint me as reading other reviews many were disappointed.Well I was not I really enjoyed this story. I went back in forth between the kindle and audible version and enjoyed both ways. I really was trying to listen to the audio version but I had to know what happened and I can read quicker than listen. I will say I adore the narrator for this series she does an excellent job with all the accents she must do. The story itself is a wonderful one

First Thought when Finished: The Duke's Perfect Wife was fantastic. I loved Eleanor!

Overall Thoughts: I loved Hart and Eleanor's story. I knew that I was going to love Eleanor because she was so straight spoken. She just said what she thought and she said it with style. She didn't let Hart run all over her but she was very real with herself about her feelings. I like how the 2nd half of the story played out. It was perfect for them. I have pretty much plowed through the first 4 books in this series in a matter of weeks. They are that good!

Audio Thoughts:

Narrated By Angela Dawe / Length: 11 hrs and 7 mins

Broken record alert: Angela rocks! She does a fantastic job with this series. I highly recommend listening to them.

Final Thoughts: I am excited to get to the rest of the series.

Cunning yet predictable

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Not a thing, I buy a book from this series whenever I need a mental break from a difficult or depressing read. It's uplifting and enjoyable.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I wouldn't have changed anything. This is all about one big, happy family.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Angela is quite limited but her voice is very soothing. It's not uncommon for her to get the male and female character mixed up and her accents are terrible.

Do you think The Duke's Perfect Wife needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No...all of the brothers are married now, lol.

Any additional comments?

Don't expect anything spectacular but you will be content.

Soft porn

The book was okay, too much sex. It felt like I was listening to soft porn. I struggled to finish it and couldn't keep up with the story for the many sex scenes.
