Ally Marshall isn't just a wolf shifter - she's a Seer. But a girl doesn't exactly need special powers to know that Derren Hudson despises her entire kind. Disdain practically rolls off the Beta of the Mercury Pack... disdain mixed with a healthy dose of desire. And no matter how much the ruggedly handsome male appeals to her, this is one call of the wild she's determined to ignore.
After one betrayal too many, Derren doesn't have much use for Seers - except for Ally. Forced into acting as her protector, he finds himself intensely and passionately drawn to the woman who incites his primal instinct to claim. And when enemies target the pack, Ally's gift may be just what the Mercury Pack needs. Can he put his distrust aside, or will he force himself to turn his back on the one woman who makes his inner beast howl?

I love being swept away by a new romance and thankfully Audible's ever growing Library means I get to indulge myself over and over again
After Zeke finds his true mate his long-time lover Seer Ally happily moves aside but her life becomes a living Hell because of the petty jealousies, vicious set-ups and pack manipulation caused by his mate. Ally is a strong female and can handle herself and all the trouble and she walks away from conflict every time but she's reaching her limit of bullshit and she knows it's time to leave.... but where to? Ally's very good and powerful friend Cain secretly hears about the trouble even though he is in prison and calls in a favor from someone who owes him one.... the broody, unsociable and yet loyal Beta from the Mercury pack.
Darren hates Seers and so too does most of the pack (for differing reasons) but he'd given his word and he can't go back on it even though he's tempted but as soon as he sees Ally his wolf sits up and takes notice. Oh, they both fight their attraction but the animal instinct wins over. They both think they can keep their relationship at just sex because misunderstandings are there from the start so they never suspect they will eventually become fierce, loving and protective true mates. But this is what happens..... especially when Ally's abilities as Seer saves lives, when her kickass no nonsense attitude is respected and when the sex brings them closer together.
With lots of different pack action as Ally settles in, there's murder and kidnapping attempts, bloodshed as fur fangs and claws come out and lots of suspicion as to who and why the drama is focused on the members of the Mercury pack. Also Zeke's bitchy mate isn't anywhere near finished with her deadly plans. As with SW's other Shifter books the sex scenes are great and the Hero is a dirty mouthed Alpha type who knows what he wants and loves and fiercely protects it when he gets it.... because nothing stands in his way (and don't you just love em).
Worth a credit? Dual POV's, addictive sexy and action-packed storyline and a great narrator who brought all the scenes and all the many characters to life which made a good book into an awesome listen. It would've been worth a credit but no need to spend one as I just buy books that are under $10 and save the credit for a more expensive (but maybe not as enjoyable) listen.
Simple as that. Suzanne does a great job, entertaining, funny, action packed, interesting and last but by no means least, unpredictable.
Narration is pretty good too!
Although a series book, it is a stand alone without the dreaded cliffhanger.
Bring on the next one...
Love listening to audiobooks, and being swept away by a great story and narrator. It's my therapy, and I need it daily!
This was another great shifter story by Suzanne Wright. The Mercury pack is basically a spin off of the Phoenix Pack which was a really hot! I look forward to the next one in the series!
Hello, my name is Teresa and I'm an addict.
Another hit from Suzanne Wright. I love this series. I only wish there was a bit more action, but I'm all about characters who are kick ass and both Darren and Ally fit that bill. SW has created a bunch of characters that I like (smartasses) and I cannot wait until their books come out, I also love the kids. This is an amusing romance and I will defiantly be getting them all as soon as SW types them out. Narrator does a great job, she also reads the Phoenix series.
Another good story by Suzanne Wright! This grabbed my attention from the first page to the last. Jill Redfield did an excellent job on narration enhancing an already entertaining story. Newell done. Highly recommend.
Say something about yourself!
If you are a fan of the Phoenix pack you will see many of the Phoenix pack in this book, and the same old good feelings apply!
Ally's current pack has turned against her, through no fault of her own. Sure, she was seeing the Betta of the pack but when he found his true mate she backed off...just wish the she devil of a mate had left it at that, but OH NO, she had to start the Ally is Jealous of me and Zeke campaign that played on and on until the whole pack thought she was pathetic. Being viewed as pathetic is not a great situation for a a Dominant Wolf to be in, her old psychopathic friend Cain discovered her problem and sent in an old Wolf Friend from Juvey that owed him a favor. The bad thing is he and his entire pack had been duped by a Seer and they don't particularly like them...oh well, open hostility from strangers is better than open hostility from people she use to call friends!
Great series, great characters, highly recommended!
I'd say great for credit/sale/buy...but at $7.34 just buy the book and save the credit.
I have a real crazy in love relationship with books!!!
I don't think so. I've tried 3 times already.
The last 3 books I've heard are starting to sound exactly the same...the dialogue, action, sex... The characters behave & communicate the same no matter who it is, so really they all could have just been one person. Also, the dialogue between characters is super weak and only focuses on raunchy sex-and not that I'm opposed to a well written, descriptive scene-but Suzanne's scenes are just...well trashy.
I don't know what she could have done beside scrap the book and start over.
I don't really know if Jill did anything wrong as she just tried to work with what was given butt it did make me not want to hear her whining ever again.
Absolutely not. Unfortunately, I was on a roadtrip and was stuck listening to this.
I don't recommend this book at all, unless you like a book with no point or substance.
I love all genres of books. However, when I listen to audio books as I clean, garden, drive they are better with a lot of heat!
Ally Marshal isn't just having a bad day. She's having a bad year. Ever since her last boyfriend found his true mate, Ally has been treated to the cold shoulder by the entire shifter pack. All because Zeke's mate is an insecure, jealous bitch. When Ally is accused of attempting to kill the woman she's ready to sprint, except, that would be running, and Ally doesn't run. Not anymore than she attacks from behind.
Derren can't believe what he just agreed to. Yes, Cain is an old friend, but...accepting a seer into the Mercury pack, even on a temporary basis, is sheer lunacy. Not only does he have issues. The whole pack has issues with Seers after one of them lied to their pack about her mating, attempting to keep the man for herself. But Derren owes the man, and he always pays his debts.
The chemistry is instant when Derren and Ally meet. She's used to her special ability making life difficult for her, but this pack...her skin itches and burns at the amount of barely suppressed anger and mistrust present. Except for the massive Beta, Derren. He's prickly and hot. Ally vows to stay in her own lodge until Cain comes to pick her up. The pack is leery of angering her adopted brother, and if they want to assume he's her mate, so much the better.
Ally is a strong female character. The heat that builds between her and Derren is unmistakable and the events that follow realistic inside the world Wright has given us. I really enjoyed this story and look forward to the next Mercury Pack tale.
Jill Redfield was outstanding with the delivery of the story.
Although not my main genre of interest, I like a good romance book every now and then but this one didn't sit right with me. The story has a lot of good points but the empty sex scenes (and there are a lot of them) didn't say romance to me. It said would be rapist with willing victim, which didn't make sense considering the male lead's past. After the first few times, I got sick of listening to cringe-worthy lines and hit fast forward. "Oh, you know you like it."
And I wish the author would've used a better term of endearment other than 'baby'. Who knows, maybe I fast forwarded over the couple sharing real loving moments instead of ripped from a cheesy porn video dialogue. I've read a few books over the years that have made me blush or fan myself but the scenes here made me just want to zip my cardigan closed tight and hit fast forward.
Although generic in nature (every guy is hot, hot, hot), the scenes (when everyone has their clothes on) are the good kind of generic and made me smile, laugh, grow indignant and so forth so I felt for the characters, to a degree. If you either don't mind masochistic bed habits or don't mind skipping whole chapters, then you might enjoy this book...This is just not a series for me.
Love me some creepy, scarey, suspenseful, thrilling reading - when discovered I could hear some of my favorites read TO me...Audible had me!
Same storyline as all of the phoenix pack series. Brooding male with a secret in his past, spunky female with a secret in her past. She has a thing for jerks who refuse orgasms as punishment. A few issues with other characters to even things out, and there you have it.
Amazing narrator in Jill Redfield no matter what the story she's reading.
very good easy listening.allowed my imagination to work and well written it is what it says on the tin
"I really enjoyed this performance"
I found the way the Characters blended together to make the story believable. I would definitely want to read other books by Suzanne Wright.
"Predictable and same as all others"
I'm sad that I didn't enjoy this book. I was expecting great things as I'm a big fan of this author. I guessed the book ending pretty early on and it was pretty boring from then. Sex scenes always better than usual authors but again they could be pretty much lifted out of each book in the series.
I feel this was a waste of money to be honest :(
"pretty much as expected same as Phoenix pack"
Probably not though I enjoyed listening to this It's too similar to other books in the series I wouldn't have a problem to listen again if it was all I had available
Yes and its a variation on the same formula as in the previous books. It probably works as a stand alone book but is probably better read in sequence ie after the Phoenix pack book 4.
If you haven't read them - Read Feral Sins first, its a better book! It also introduces some of the characters. Most of the rest arrive in books 2 to 4.
The story is very predicable - brooding male and feisty female thrown together against their will, both have issues to work through. There is the usual combination of dangerous situations and bedroom action sticking to the same formula as the other books.
Its fairly obvious what is going to happen before even the first chapter is done with characters clearly defined as good or bad - its really just an enjoyable romp.
Bedroom scenes better listened to with headphones or the car windows closed to avoid embarrassment !
Jill Redfield does her usual good job, but some of the characters do sound the same as the others. She really brings the books to life though. I am sure they are better with Jill's narration than just reading the printed version
