I wish I knew this author simply because I find her to be amazing. The worlds she creates is a thing of beauty I will most likely read or listen to whatever she writes. This book is just great.
Yes, you don't catch everything first time around. You know what to listen for second time, when trying to understand the Lore
The end of the fight with Kaspin
He's very good, with all the different accents and characters.
No, as much as I enjoyed this book. Bettina is one pathetic heroin. Simply put, to whinny.
Keep on writing!
I'm a light listener, but a heavy reader!
Love, Sex, and more SEX
I honestly believe the reason why i love the "Immortals After Dark" series is because of Robert's narrations! He brings the character to life with their individual voices, accents, and personalities that is portrayed in the books.
YES ! I'm a complete junkie...
Really 4.5 stars. I liked this book, but I think the tournament scenes went on a little too long. Would have liked a few more romance scenes instead of all the blood, gore & killing. But I like the start of this new series. I like the Dacians. I look forward to learning more about the rest of the cousins and how Elizabeth continues to tame Lothaire. I hope we hear more about Bett & Trehan in future books. This book didn't really explore them as a couple very much. I hope Salem is in future books, he's a hoot! Great narration!
Actual rating: 3.5 stars
This book got better as it progressed through. It has the classic KC construction in that the main male character is uncontrollably drawn to the main female while the main female struggles and defies the less intense pull towards the male. These uneven surges then creates the entire basis of the story, with lots of action, humor, death, and lust adding color and depth to the tale.
At first, I was disappointed because I felt like it was the same story with different character names and a different backdrop. Although there is some truth to that, KC is a skilled writer in that she is able to spin the tale with new aspects that, after all was said and done, I really enjoyed the romance. The surrounding events are also very intriguing because Cole does a great job of connecting all of her tales and characters in both a subtle and evident way. Before reading this book, I have read up to book four so there were a few things that I wasn't privy too, but I figure it will make sense once I finish reading them.
Narrator: Robert Petkoff
Petkoff is perfect for this narration because he has such a strong and powerful voice. His rendition of the female characters were pretty good as well, not making them sound vapid.
I've always been a avid reader so now I'm a avid listener. I prefer the paranormal genre but I do like to switch things up. It's boring if you don't have variety. Of course I do love the romance and the hotter the better. Also, you can't beat a good thriller filled with suspense and a ending you can't even guess at until the very end.
From beginning to end it's a great paranormal listen. I've had it on my wish list for awhile but kept passing it by. I'm glad I finally got it. I enjoy KC's books and this is another fine example of why I keep getting her books. This is a very creditworthy book for the paranormal fans.
Absolutely. Robert's voice and acting ability brought the characters to life!
It cannot compare.
All of the battle scenes. I also enjoyed the final scene between Trehan and Bettina where he is begging her to love him back. Spectacular!
A Prince without a Kingdom Battles to Win the Queen who Rules His Heart.
LOVE the audio version of this book. I look forward to hearing Mr. Petkoff take on Lothaire and MacReave!
Believer in what you can't see
It is average. The story is a general theme with Cole's storyline, but the narrator brings each character to life and creates a better world in my mind. I also have the book, but the story wasn't as powerful without the audio.
I would have made Bettina realize early on that her power came from within and that her heart power was only the frosting. I would have made her more present like the other Soceri.
He keeps getting better and better and his female characters are just wonderful now.
No, some of the scenes were a little annoying especially the one where the contenders were killed just because Bettina didn't like her gift and she had no way of stopping the killings.
I like the series, but the beginning of the series I like much better. I love Nix.
Great New Series
