Audie Award Nominee, Romance, 2013

Eveline Armstrong is fiercely loved and protected by her powerful clan, but outsiders consider her "touched." Beautiful, fey, with a level, intent gaze, she doesn't speak. No one, not even her family, knows that she cannot hear. Content with her life of seclusion, Eveline has taught herself to read lips and allows the outside world to view her as daft. But when an arranged marriage into a rival clan makes Graeme Montgomery her husband, Eveline accepts her duty -unprepared for the delights to come. Graeme is a rugged warrior with a voice so deep and powerful that his new bride can hear it, and hands and kisses so tender and skilled that he stirs her deepest passions. Graeme is intrigued by the mysterious Eveline, whose silent lips are ripe with temptation and whose bright, intelligent eyes can see into his soul. As intimacy deepens, he learns her secret. But when clan rivalries and dark deeds threaten the wife he has only begun to cherish, the Scottish warrior will move heaven and earth to save the woman who has awakened his heart to the beautiful song of a rare and magical love.

Deaf and chosen to be mute lass steals the show!

If anyone ever told me that I would one day love a romance story where the main character is deaf and choses not to speak I would have given them a strange look. One of these handicaps I could see but both seems more like movie plot versus a book plot.

She is a intricate and interesting character that enhances the hero and story. Yes, there are some clichés stirred in here and you may guess the plot but it does not take away from the enjoyment of the journey.

The narration was lovely. Potter's accent was consistent. She may not have a wide range of vocies but her inflections are clear to the point you can tell whom is "talking".

Great Romance

I read kky first book by Maya a couple years ago and picked up the audio during a sale, I love her writing style and the romance that is weaved into her historical stories. This books is about an alliance between two warring clans and it's one girl that brings them together. A amazing story of strength and forgiveness. The narrator is awesome with the accents that makes you crave to go to Scotland. I would totally recommend.

Very Good!

Loved listening to this one! The narrator did an excellent job and her vocal changes were very appropriate. Some parts of the story relating to the heroine's affliction seemed unrealistic to me and I hate when romance authors get too cheesy with certain situations. I realize it's a fantasy, but for me, the best romance novel is one that keeps it as real as possible (no matter where or when it takes place). However, this was definitely one of the better romantic novels I've listened to in some time. It hooked me and I had trouble turning it off to do other things.

Historical Romance-Not my Favorite Genre-Enjoyable

What made the experience of listening to Never Seduce a Scot the most enjoyable?

Kirsten Potter is great. This seemed like the generic period romance. Maya Banks portrayal of a deaf character and the cleverness with which she escapes (not a spoiler-it's in the first chapter) a horrible situation IS original.

If you’ve listened to books by Maya Banks before, how does this one compare?

I have a lot of Maya Banks books - her Sweet Series got me hooked. I prefer her work set in contemporary circumstances than her historical romance. This one was especially lacking in intimate scenes (only 1!)

This is a nice historical romance, easy read-not a lot of depth. I like a bit more complexity.

Have you listened to any of Kirsten Potter’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, she always does a fantastic job and I really like her accents.

Any additional comments?

NOTE: Some [minor?] violence.

Love, Honor, and overcoming hatred.

What did you love best about Never Seduce a Scot?

How Evangeline managed to protect herself by pretending
that an accident did more to her mental stability than her family thought.
This lead her into a marriage that seemed hopeless until you
discover the gentle way in which her husband comes to
know and respect her.

What did you like best about this story?

It was a little different than the usual Scottish storylines.

What about Kirsten Potter’s performance did you like?

She did a fabulous job. Her Scottish brogue was infectious.
Along with her ability to adjust to men vs woman. That's not easy
and for me important for the romance story.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

This would be a great movie!

Love the book and love the audiobook as well!

I love a book where love conquers all and that is what this book is about.

Hated enemies, sworn to despise and destroy each other, the two families are forced to join in marriage by the king. They do so and almost immediately our hero and heroine fee something, not immediate love, but kindness that can be heard through deafness.

They fall in love and truly unite the clans, not just on paper, but with respect and family.

Love this book and highly recommended it and the audiobook.

Highland romance at its best.

This is a great Highlander romance. If you're in the mood for a damsel in distress type of book, which sometimes I am, this is a good one to get. I loved Ghram and totally want him to be made flesh and blood, not just a figment of my imagination. He was so sweet and tough at the same time. I will also admit the story had me in tears a few times. The author did a great job making me empathetic towards the characters, yet at the same time pissed off at all the asshole clansmen for their behavior. Maya Banks as an author is sometimes a hit or miss for me. While admittedly I haven't read much by her and what I have read most has been good. A few that were not so great, but still not too bad. Since Audible doesn't have this whole series, I will probably just wait to get the next book on a sale. Narrator does a good job.

Definitely was a bit different and had some depth

If you could sum up Never Seduce a Scot in three words, what would they be?

Romantic, refreshing, different

What did you like best about this story?

I liked that the main female character had an adversity to overcome and not just the same ol' my family hates yours. I've listened to the book twice and enjoyed it both times.

What about Kirsten Potter’s performance did you like?

Narrator was good.

Definitely seduced by a Scot!

This was the 3rd or 4th time I've listened to this book, and I STILL Love it! It's a seductive story of trials, strife, tragedy, deception, love, joy happiness, violence and the overall fight just to fit in. With incredible characters dealing with incredible stories this novel takes every thing we love about a hunky highlander romance and wraps it up in a dramatic story that steals your heart. This is a "all at once" book that grabs and holds your attention from start to finish. Five stars is not enough!

NARRATOR: Kirsten Potter is a highly talented narrator who gives a performance with total mastery. Her characters are such strong individuals each so distinct that you'd swear they were actually all there giving us the performance that brings this excellent novel to life.

CREDITWORTHY? OH YES!
