Enjoyable but selection is lacking!

I truly enjoyed this book. The story was a different take on vampires and was very good at character development.

This is a series with several separate books but you can't get all the books on Audible. Very disappointing!

Therefore, I listened to Book 1 and Book 2. But there is no Book 3 or Book 4 to download.

Love is the strangest thing

What did you love best about Lover Eternal, The Black Dagger Brotherhood, Book 2?

Everything, I love the whole plot between Rhage and Mary. I love how Rhage learns to care about Mary and sacrifice all he could so that she would live even if it would mean she would never know him again. LOVE THIS STORY. MY FAVORITE IN THE SERIES.

What other book might you compare Lover Eternal, The Black Dagger Brotherhood, Book 2 to and why?

The only one that I like as much as this one was Lover Unbound. I find the devotion between the brothers and their human lovers both wonderful and heart wrenching. Both brothers had to find that woman that soften their hearts and allowed them to think about someone else.

What does Jim Frangione bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The power and the strength behind the brothers lives. You hear the mannerisms and the attitudes of each of the characters. Frangione brings life to the stories, but the stories can stand alone too.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but because J.R.Ward has so much to say it is impossible to hear the audiobook in one session.

Any additional comments?

This was the second Vampire series that I feel in love with, right after the Dark Series written by Christine Feehan. This series is on the serious side. It has its humor, but some of the storylines can get pretty deep and disturbing.

love the story but the narration drives me bonkers

Would you consider the audio edition of Lover Eternal, The Black Dagger Brotherhood, Book 2 to be better than the print version?

printed is better since the narrator is not all that great.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love Rhage!
this is his story thats why I got the audiobook, so i could listen to the story when I cant read it.
Rhage, vishous and Rhevenge are my favs.. not to say i dont Love phury, zsadist, john mattherw, qhuinn, blay, wrath, tohr, payne and butch. i enjoy all tier stories this is one of the best series i have come across.
but rhage is one that just sticks out for me. i mean the huge tattoo and his curse soo awesome! i just wish he didn't fall into the background so much later on.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

so many ways.. sounds too old for the slang, makes me feel awkward.. monotone no change in narration and speech even women's voices sound the same some time sits hard to tell what is being spoken and what is being thought. i mean so many times it says "in a growl" or "deep rumble" or "his voice was coarse" but everything sounds the same.

Also just FYI - its 2PAC to 2PACK only 10 min in and things are mispronounced.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes i would listen to it in one sitting but the once again the narrator bugs me and makes me want to sleep.

Any additional comments?

can we petition to have theses books re read by some one else. maybe Phil Giante he did amazing with the fever series! it would be better if they recorded all books like shadowfever for instance.. where a man does the man portions and a women does all the female portions.

Intense and emotional...

This was a solid entry in the series. Not my favorite, but it has so much going on throughout, you learn quite a bit about all the Brothers and some new characters. I actually got more caught up in Zadist and Bella’s story than in some instances Rhage and Mary’s. I loved Rhage, but much of the early conflict is Mary misreading and jumping to incorrect conclusions about Rhage. I am not a fan of that type of conflict. He stuck with it though, and won her over eventually. The Beast - awesome! Every scene with the Beast, especially during and after the chains, were highlights of that book, and of just about any book. I want one!

The one issue I have with the book is all the activity of the Lessers. That did not interest me at all, and I ended up skipping over those parts.

Jim Frangione is one of my favorite narrators. He does such a good job pulling you into the story that I’m hard-pressed to tell you if he differentiates his voice at all! He makes it all about the story and that works for me.

Great story undeniably

amazing story, great narrative, didnt like the long pauses between chapters, other than that it was perfect. the story of taming your beast, the end was amazing, this book is a lot better than the first. where I loved the first I felt it was all over the place and hard to follow this book was the perfect amount of plot, set up and prepare for other books to come.
