Laurann Dohner’s Zorn Warrior series features the perils and pleasures of domination and submission, in this case between human heroine Casey and alien warrior Argernon.
Simone Lewis ranges from neutral narration to soft growling rumbles of pleasure and whispered pleas for mercy to exclamations of outrage and tones of adoration as she brings to life the mix of fantasy and erotica begun when Casey is rescued from an ex-boyfriend’s plan to jail her by a brute of a creature who can’t speak with her, but has electric blue eyes and a sensitivity to what her body needs that comes from a place well beyond words.
Book 2 in the Zorn Warriors series.
All Casey wants is to avoid being arrested on trumped - up charges from her persistent ex-boyfriend. Running through the woods to escape two deputies sounds like a great plan until they catch her. Thinking it’s all over, waiting to hear the snap of the handcuffs, she instead hears a roar.
A huge, tall, muscular man comes to her rescue. She’s being saved by Bigfoot - and he’s the sexiest thing she’s ever seen. The attraction between them is instant, and after spending a little time with him, Casey wants to take him home and keep him.
There are a few problems with that plan. He’s not the legendary creature, but he definitely isn’t human. Argernon is a warrior from Zorn. They do have one thing in common - he wants to take her home and keep her. He’s kidnapping Casey.

The fact that many scenes in the book were right on the edge of "ok" and "taboo". I found myself outraged in many parts, yet kept reading. There was an "OMG, is this really happening?? What the heck is the author going to do now...?" vibe for me. As much as it outraged/concerned me in several instances, I was invested in the overall story after reading Book 1. I couldn't help hanging on to see how the overall story was going to develop - not just what would happen with Casey. I suppose that says something about the writing and the development of the story, that it kept me going through out all of those feelings and reactions.
I felt like the Casey character got a bit...overdone...at the end. She wasn't arguing real points. She wasn't arguing new points. She wasn't explaining why she was actually hurt (i.e. taking her off of her planet without her consent...). After awhile it was like "OK, either make a real point/new point or move on". I felt like that aspect of the story/character could have been improved. I can understand other reader comments about Casey being "whiny", especially towards the end of the book.
She has a very pleasing voice. I felt she did female AND male characters fairly well. I didn't have a hard time distinguishing the many male characters within the story -- Simone Lewis managed to make them distinct AND not annoying. That to me is fantastic. I find female narrators sometimes can't distinguish the males and/or get annoying.
Yes, because I am interested in the overall story that started in Book 1. I don't want to explain too much of that larger story arc/development here because it might spoil the story for other readers.
I had some real concerns with certain sex scenes. There is teasing and then there is forcing/fondling someone. Perhaps I am just not as "in" to that world. However, given that there are several borderline seduction/rape type scenes in the book, I feel like there should be some kind of disclaimer or warning in the book description. I don't personally have a problem with restraints, "seduction", etc, but this to me was really pushing towards "rape". I would like to have known that before starting the book. I can see where this might disturb some readers. I believe people have the right to write whatever *fiction* they want to write, but I do think the readers deserve a basic disclaimer in the Audible description when books contain more "taboo" type stories.
I've always been a avid reader so now I'm a avid listener. I prefer the paranormal genre but I do like to switch things up. It's boring if you don't have variety. Of course I do love the romance and the hotter the better. Also, you can't beat a good thriller filled with suspense and a ending you can't even guess at until the very end.
Those aliens are very over sexed and love earth women. Apparently the women of their planet are very lacking in the "more intimate" details of daily life. This is a series focused mainly on sex and I don't have issues with that. If your looking for a book with more of a plot then I'd suggest something different. This is just something to listen to just for entertainment of the "smexy" kind. Which I will admit is sometimes just what a girl wants. Narration however is not good on the male voices.
I liked the story ok but I didnt like Casey at all.
She didnt have any "give" in her. She was too harsh and way too hung up on "poor me". I would have cut her loose and told her to find another man.
While I really enjoy anything by Laurann Dohner, the story was ruined by the monotone narration. Unfortunately, this narrator was chosen for several of Laurann's books. I guess I will have to stick with the written word rather than continue to be bored beyond belief listening to this narrator. I regret that I have already purchased other audibles that feature this narrator, but I loved the books so much I automatically bought the audibles. What a mistake! All the characters sound the same. That is to say, lifeless and boring, with mo inflection or emotion. Way to ruin a great book series.
the whole way thru I kept thinking 'omg! I would kill someone for doing that to me!' and 'poor girl is a crazy idiot!' but I couldn't stop listening! it's like the alien version of 50 shades.! I don't think I would have listened to it if I had know what I was in for, but I actually enjoyed it. the narrator was good too.
My name is Irene and I'm a lifelong bookaholic. A few years ago, I started adding audiobooks and I'm so happy I joined Audible in 2015 :-))
This book in the series does a fair job of drawing you into the character's interactions; dare I say relationship? The whole series is over 21 material and yummy when that's what you're looking for. Narration is weak on male characters, but works in general. Well worth my purchase on sale.
Traveling therapist listening to AUDIBLE books while driving to far areas. Also host/produce radio show on KGLP 91.7 on staying positive!!
The Zor males lust for earth (american anglo) females go to earth to grab 30 females. Lead male runs into (in woods) Casey being assaulted by police officers sent by her abusive ex- cheating boyfriend. Casey has SEX with the kind alien male after he he helped her. He decides to keep her after he "releases his seed' inside her. Puts her on a space ship. Refused to take her back to earth. The ship gets attacked. Handsome alien gets hurt. When the Zor ship gets to their planet. The handsome alien is "attended" by 3 of his house servants ( house servants perform sex acts but NO seed releasing inside them) Casey feels bad that he cases his house servants out to make room for her. But, she get over it. The whole ZOR clan is oversexed male driven society..
I am an avid fantasy and urban fantasy reader. I also read a lot of millitary romance.
This is a story about kidnapping, mental abuse and rape that we are suppose to believe is romance. I like a book with alpha males, but not one that takes it way too far. Bond age is only ok if both parties agree to it.
This really bothered me. When a woman says no it should mean no. Then to have her give in and be all okay with everything just pissed me off more.
I have not read the printed version of this story. This is the second story by this author I have downloaded and I love it just as much as the first one. I will gladly download the entire series.
I have no comparison. I think every book has to stand on its own merits whether it is in a series or not. There is always a different meaning or concept in each books story.
She is a very good narrator and I love listening to her voice.
I was moved to tears and anger when Casey and Argenon arrived on Zorn and the other three women arrived and pushed her back while they rubbed all over her bounded. I could feel her pain and anger in my own heart.
