Publisher's summary

Defiant Highland beauty Fiona Sinclair is shocked by her brothers’ treachery. To seal a fragile truce, they have traded her hand in marriage to their sworn enemy, a man she has never met, a man she was raised to despise. With no choice but to wed, Fiona makes her own private vow: Though she may sacrifice her freedom, she will never surrender her heart.

Commanded into marriage by the king, Myles Campbell is no more willing than his reluctant bride. Still, she is a rare beauty, passionate enough to warm even the coldest marriage bed. But Myles quickly realizes Fiona Sinclair isn’t some common wench: She has a warrior’s spirit and a fierce pride that only a fool would try to tame. And Myles Campbell is no fool. Their marriage was meant to unite warring clans. They never imagined it would ignite a once-in-a-lifetime love….

Slow Start - OK Ending

I found this book to be a frustrating reading particularly because of how long it takes for the leading lady of the book, Fiona, to budge in her hatred of he husband, Myles. It isn't until more than halfway through the book that she even tries to meet Myles halfway in trying to at least make their marriage bearable.

Her initial blinding hatred of Myles, despite the fact that he was being extremely nice to her, bothered me so much. Because of that, the majority of the story, I wasn't even sure I liked Fiona and we're suppose to be rooting for these two to get together.

And in terms of Myles, who I did like quite a bit, it annoyed me that at the same time that Fiona is behaving horribly towards him that Myles is constantly being turned on by her because she's beautiful.

In the end, I enjoyed the ending and all the twists that were involved a lot, but for me they had come a bit to late. By then, all that I didn't like about this book outweighed what I did like.

Cute Highland Story

I really like the Highland stories. This one is filled with passion and drama... Great for the Highland story lovers. Fiona is shipped away to marry her arch enemy but falls in love after she finds out her mother was in love with her new hubby's father. Crazy, yes, i think there is some cousins marrying cousins in here...but it all makes since for this story.

Good credit. Don't buy, just wait for credit.

Narration was good. No complaints.

Great Book

Any additional comments?

This was great read, the narrator did an outstanding job and she delivered the Scottish accent to the (T). The billed up to the romance parts was awesome and steamy. I would suggest this book for people who love a Cinderella type novel. Wroth the money and I would order another book from his author!

Pretty good

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

The narrator did a good job with all the accents, but her timing was that of someone who just learned to read and pace their breathing.

Enjoyed this author's first historical romance!

Which scene was your favorite?

Fiona's talk with the king in the garden.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The "I love you" scene was very sweet. It developed so naturally and was just such a lovely statement of fact. No angst. No drama. So simple. So sweet.

Any additional comments?

The sexual relationship between Fiona and Myles developed in a respectful, realistic way. She wasn't forced amidst a (ridiculous-for-the-character) BDSM subtext. Don't get me wrong. Power exchange fantasies can be fun! But it has to be right for the character, or I just can't buy it. Also, he wasn't the most perfect lover giving her the most perfect sex on their very first most perfect night together. If you have read enough historical romance -- chock full of virgin brides and their reformed rakes -- you know exactly what I mean. Tracy Brogan found a middle ground that maintained the sexual tension, but also allowed for the characters to very naturally fall in lust and love. I could relate to that relationship, and that was very refreshing.

Great story

This was a delightful romance but I have to give it to the narrator. Her accents and acting was incredible. Especially for the priest and Simon. I was completely captivated during those scenes!

Short on story

Great performance. Good story just needed more of it and less of the unnecessary bedroom narrative.
