Publisher's summary

When destiny brought Sir Balfour Murray and his wounded brother down the same road as Maldie Kirkaldy, she offered her services as a nurse even as she tried to deny the desire this dark-eyed knight had ignited at first sight. Soon they discover that they both share a mission of vengeance, but Maldie cannot tell him her true identity - to do so would brand her a spy.

Sworn to avenge his family as chief of the Doncoill Clan, Balfour vows to destroy his greatest foe, with Maldie at his side. Yet Balfour knows that he can no more afford to trust her than he can ignore his lust for this sultry beauty. Now, he is not only determined to unearth her deepest secrets, but also to pursue his passion for her. And nothing will stand in his way.

Love this series!

This is truly one of my favorite series. When I want to listen to a series I’ve heard before, I often listen to this one. It’s like an old friend. It’s a good long series too so it takes awhile to get through them so I’m not wasting time looking for something to read. And I think the narration is excellent!

The series begins with 3 brothers, and the first 3 books are about them. Then it goes to Some of their children. Then it moves on to others associated with the clan. Then back to their grandchildren. I love that the author does not feel the need to write a story for every family member as each of the three brothers have many children. Still it often references the original three, their wives and the siblings of the main character of that particular book. There is always a Murray involved somewhere.

They are best listened to in order, but you can listen out of order. You just won’t understand every reference made.

I highly recommend these books! Great writing and great narration!

Enjoyable

This is an enjoyable book, but I am a highlander fan. However, at times it was pretty predictable yet interesting along the way. I will get the next book.

Five stars for overall performance story.

I really enjoyed the book but can’t share it because of the sexual content. Great for traveling by car if you are alone

Love these books

Great start to a series. Loved the characters in all their stubbornness. Narrator really helped with pitting your mind in Scotland.

Highland Heartbreakers

What did you love best about Highland Destiny?

Maldie and Balfour. Balfour is not your typical alpha-male for he is plagued with insecurities about his looks and even feels threatened by his brother, Nigel, who also falls in love with Maldie thus adding to a bit of competition. And Maldie isn't your usual well-bred lady having been born illegitimate and having endured a harsh life with a bitter mother who nearly forced her to a life of prostitution.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Highland Destiny?

When Balfour and the Murray Clan rescue Maldie and Eric from the enemies keep.
It's really well written.

What does Angela Dawe bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I love her voice, I know a lot of people don't, but I think she brings such passion to story she narrates.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

A really touching story, and the reunion of the 2 main characters was so lovely.

Any additional comments?

In the middle of Nigel's story, can't wait for Eric's.

Superb Narrating

Any additional comments?

The narration was so good it was like I was listening to a play. Great experience! Loved that the book was read by a UK narrator.

They were meant for each other

Loved the story of Balfour and Maldie. The heat and chemistry between these 2 characters is a beautiful beginning to the Murray Clan. I have read all the book some several times and know I am listening to the audio and love it. Angela Dawe did a fabulous job narrating,

Maldie is found in the wooded area by Sir Balfour Murray after a brief battle with their enemy. Maldie is a healer and helps
Nigel with his wounds. She is brought back to Doncoill to help but Balfour wants her for himself. Maldie is keeping secrets
and Balfour just cant trust her until he uncovers her secrets.

Imagination explosion.

It was magical I transported me back into history imagining a place I have never seen. I'm not sure which is better listening or reading I loved both. I'm glad the story doesn't end here; on to the next stimulating branch of this family tree.

Great Series

Enjoyable read and the characters were great. Just wish the FMC would have made the MMC grovel a little.

Meh...Its OK

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

It's not a bad story line, it just very predictable. Laird meets low born girl, battle feelings, status, bloodline and over come it all in the name of love...the end.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Angela Dawe?

I'm a huge fan of Robert Petkoff, Kristen Potter does pretty good scots accents. Davina Porter did an excellent job with the outlander series. My issue with Angela Dawe is her tempo of speech. Ms. Dawe reads way too fast! I feel she need more emotion in her lines, its not very appealing when a character is muttering a line engulfed in heated passion and it sounds like its being read by Ben Stein.

Any additional comments?

Like I said the story line is ok, but I probably would have given the book a higher rate with a different narrator. The delivery of the story can really make or break the book.
