Though she has yet to be courted by any man, spirited Gillyanne Murray decides the time has come to visit the dower lands gifted to her by her father's kinsmen. She arrives to find the small keep surrounded by three lairds, each one vying for her hand... and property. Though resolved to refuse them all, the threat of battle on her threshold forces her to boldly choose a suitor: Sir Connor MacEnroy, a handsome, daring knight of few words.
As his wife, Gillyanne is stunned by his terse, cold distance - and her own yearning to feel passion in his arms. Now, bringing her healing touch to a land and a keep ravaged by treachery and secret enemies, she dares to reach out for the one thing she fears she may forever be denied - her husband's closely guarded heart.

Love A Good Story Epecially w/Romance🔹I Review in Varied Genres w/No Spoilers 🙊Appreciate My Yes or No Votes -Diversity At Its Best! 💕
This spunky romance has a gentle way of drawing you into the story then delivers an quirky, funny adventure. This story of Gillyanne and Connor is a delightful love story. Gilly is very clever lass who's spunky determination is evident throughout the book. Connor is a Laird who's dedicated and thinks only of the future of his clan. Together they grow, learn to communicate, and change.
I'm giving the story 3.5 stars because I think it should have had a little more depth. I liked it because It was interesting and funny......I just wanted a little history etc. It's still worth a listen if you enjoy light, entertaining, and funny stories. It's a book I would listen to again when I want a light fun read.
This is the second book I have listened to by ms Howell I look forward to many more The story was well thought the characters rich and it was fun as well as steamy I thought it was a great highlander book Treat yourself to this book it won't disappoint
Sassy dialogue, humor, and a great reader are important to me.
Clever, fun, and imaginative
Author use of humor, "Eh verrrry weeell" dialogue is so endearing. Each story is different and the characters are mentioned from previous stories, but I am reading out of order as I am looking for the most humorous of the series. Book #5 is one of the best, and this book opens with very clever humor/ 3 plans of attacks. (I liked #5 more than #6, but had to have both) Looking at Diamate's humorous story and Fiona's story next.
Ms Dawe owns this series. I love her male and Scot's accent (she makes Conner so yummy even if he is hard headed). She is great with childrens voices and she interprets author's intent so very well.
yes, laugh! I own #1 and Cormac's story and they are not as humorous as #5/6 are, so read the reviews if you are not a series listener to see which story appeals to you.
Note: I do use the new 1.25x speed so reader matches the author's intent.
My favorite books are 'Historical Romance'. A good book takes you away from your everyday life & puts you in the middle of an adventure.
I am currently listening to the entire Murray Family Series on audio book. I am enjoying the narrators wit, sensitivity, love and passion in her delivery of each characters.
Gillyanne is my favorite character. She's spunky, clever, sweet and loving. This story will make you smile at the sweet moments and outright laugh at the creative ways of Gillyanne.
Angela Dawe does an excellent job narrating this story. I can't imagine the characters with other voices than what she created for them.
This is one of my favorite books. It is refreshing and definitely worth reading or listening to.
Hannah Howell has yet to disappointment me. I have really enjoyed each of her books and I look forward to more. This is a wonderful example of how a series can come together. I love how she incorporates characters and story lines from her other series into this book. It really makes you feel like your part of the Murray family.
I love being swept away by a new romance and thankfully Audible's ever growing Library means I get to indulge myself over and over again
I pondered over this rating as I did enjoy this latest venture into the Murray Clan's spunky, passionate, funny, firecracker of a daughter Gillyanne and her adventures.
It was very funny as she tries to put her three suitors off by trickery rather than shed any blood over a lost cause but eventually she had to give up herself and her land. Connor was a very broody tortured handsome Highland Laird who slowly begins to crack as Gilly's personality inevitably gets under his outward shell and we can finally see a likeable character underneath.
Entertaining, enjoyable, passionate, fun, sexy, lots of action with a few vipers in the nest which leads to murder, betrayal and finally redemption. It had a good cast of characters which you could easily visualise, empathise with, hate, love and rejoice with - the trouble I had was it was all a wee bit too farcical but it was an easy-going light historical romance.
Worth a credit? So, despite being that wee bit too farcical, it did pack a lot in and if you're in the mood for a light listen then YES but I've heard better and if you're the 'historically correct' listener then look elsewhere.
I buy a series because I want and expect the romance formula...lovers in denial about being in love. This one was cute and I liked the concept of the 3 Lairds vying for GillyAnn's (sp?) hand/land. There were times I thought the main character a bit dense to not recognize the villain(s) and for not recognizing how important it is to declare your love for your wife...at least once. But that's the formula and I asked for it! Some fun sex scenes too. I'm continuing with the series. The narrator blends into the story well - no strong opinions on her either way.
